Oh, huh, I guess I do post a lot about that
I was meandering among the tags on one of my past front page posts, and noticed that "inspirational" said:
Users that often use this tag: brainwaneOther MeFites who make front page posts: are you ever surprised to notice a theme emerging among your posts? Like, "Oh, huh, I guess I do post a lot about that"? I'm curious!

Interim Board Seeks Atty., Other Help
The group working to form the MeFi nonprofit is looking for help in a few specific areas.
Posts for Donations?
Is anybody out there up for the old "you donate money to Metafilter, I'll make a post for you" thing? I have a topic I'd really like to see posted, but I don't have the time to do it myself. I'd donate $25 to our Bean Plate Overlords if someone would do this for me. (I feel like someone was doing this project in the past but I don't remember who.)
[RSS PSA] Reminder to update your MetaFilter RSS feeds
Last month, an apparent error in Feedburner caused several of MeFi's legacy RSS feeds to not update for up to a week (at least in my popular feed reader, Feedly). The problem has been fixed -- for now. But it's an important reminder that the Feedburner platform is increasingly unreliable -- if it were ever shut down by Google, the thousands of readers who rely on those feeds to keep up with the site may lose contact without even realizing it. The good news is that the site has a new set of self-hosted feeds that should remain active no matter what Google does. So, if you read the site using an RSS reader, please take a moment to update your reader to the new feeds -- and check the related posts on MetaFilter and Ask MetaFilter for a list of posts you might have missed during the outage.
Add request for followup to AskMeFi
Would we like a feature to request that an original poster, asking for recommendations, follow up with a comment about what they did, or if some place, restaurant, or service was recommended whether it worked out and why or why not?
Who sent me this postcard?
Dear person who sent me a postcard that mentioned playing a show in my hometown, hmu in my MeMail! I want to talk to you but I couldn't make out your signature!
MeFi Nonprofit Update 2/28/2024
The board forming the nonprofit for Metafilter met Feb. 15.
We need more IRL events
There's been practically no activity on the IRL MetaFilter page lately. There was a time when it was full of events. This post is to encourage you to create more IRL events and go to them. You'll meet new people, see old friends and make new friends. You'll get to match user names with real names and faces. (To get local IRL alerts, in your MeFi user profile set you location and in preferences make sure "Receive IRL alerts? " is checked)

How do we feel in 2024 about single-link FPP food/recipe posts?
What is your opinion about FPPs about recipes? Is a single-link FPP where the single link is a recipe too thin? (Discussion of the same question in February 2013.) Does the much-lamented rise of the "recipe" that's actually a 1,000-2,000 word essay wrapped around a recipe change the calculus for you?
MeFi Nonprofit Update 2/19/2024
The board forming the nonprofit for Metafilter met Feb. 1.

Please help me find this post
I'm looking for a MeFi post about people setting up a co-op in San Francisco. The core people involved treated it as a startup, almost, and a few others would cycle in and out of the house. There was an interview process to join the co-op. I just can't seem to find it; thanks for any pointers.
It's award season
Are there works that mefites have published/created in 2023 that are eligible for awards? Hugo nominations should open soon and I'm sure there are other awards I don't know about. Please share your work here.
Help me find this long-ago post on the blue about a singer who vanished
Many years ago, there was a post on the blue about a troubled young woman singer who recorded a few acoustic tracks and then (died? disappeared? left the music industry?). They were achingly sad and lonely. I remember in particular an absolutely devastating cover of the Beatles song Don't Let Me Down. There were also some originals, including, I seem to recall, one about a guy named Sam. Google and site search have failed me — does anyone remember this?
In Memoriam
This is intended as a picnic table at the bottom of the garden where anyone who would like to, can come over and share something about a mefite who has died, either this past year or any other.
Operation: I Do
Sometimes, when a rambunctious baked good and a kryptonian/atlantean doofus love each other very much...
Help me find a recent post about guide for bereaved on what next
In the last couple of months I saw a post on the blue or green about a detailed guide for people who had a relative die, about all the things you will have to do if you are responsible for making arrangements and tidying up as it were. I cannot find it. Can you? Really want to share it with someone who sadly very much needs it.
