Band Tags on Music?

Music.mefi question: Would it be inappropriate to add a band name/artist name tag to tracks you post if your songs come from several different bands?

I've done it in the past so people could listen to everything from that particular project, but then I had thoughts that it might be considered passe (and if it is, I'll remove them from past posts).

I can't imagine why tagging a track with the name of the band would be considered wrong.

Your question confuses me (perhaps I am dense today), are you asking is it ok to tag songs with the band name of that band's name, or, to tag songs with the names of other bands you have worked with/posted?
The first seems a no brainer yes do it, the second... dunno, I wouldn't do that myself.

I'm assuming you mean edgeways' first meaning, and agree: it's no problem, and something that in retrospect I ought to consider doing on my own tracks.

I think it's a good idea / helpful for the user, especially if you have a large body of work posted (looks in cortex's direction).
