Strike out in titles of FPP's. February 26, 2007 2:23 PM Subscribe
When doing this post (nsfw) I did a strikeout for the title and it worked fine in the preview, but when it went live the strikeout was removed. "Go back" should have been striked out.
Since titles are used in the HTML title of a post, I strip out HTML from them. If I left them in, they'd be printed out as raw HTML in the title to the page and look really ugly.
Sorry preview doesn't strip them as well, but I'll change that so it does.

"Striked out" should also be stricken.

I'm curious, would "struck out" also have been acceptable? Or is "stricken" always used for the act of drawing a line over text in writing?

Something in my gut says "striked out" should be kosher, or close to it, in the specific case of typography, at least in some cases:
1. ?The final line ought to be striked out.
2. *You ought to have striked out the final line.

So glad this came up-- I've had the same thing happen in 2 (2!!) post titles, resulting in emotional trauma that I have carefully documented for my class action suit against Big Meta.

I tried to put a heart symbol on a ridiculously silly post, and I learned the same lesson. The symbols appeared at first but before long it was called to my attention that matthowie callously broke my heart into pieces.
A couple of years of therapy & I'll be okay, though. Sniffle.

miss lynnster, I wish we had the img tag so I could show you that when I mouseover the link to that post, it shows the heart character in the url in the status bar. So that's kinda cool.
