London Meetup December 6, 2006 11:02 AM Subscribe
Reminder that there's a London meetup this Friday at The Bricklayers. Last time there was a shortage of chairs and table space, if someone gets there early-ish, could they loiter around a table upstairs?
I'll be jumping on the 5.25 train from work, so should get there about 6:45-ish. I got there at the same time last time and there was already a chair shortage and about half-a-dozen Mefites. This time add in: Friday, near Christmas, too cold to stand outside.

OK, well I'll have spent the day gazing at (but declining to buy) expensive items displayed in shop windows, so maybe I should try and get there before the hoardes leave work at 5.30.
What sort of numbers are expected? Myninja chair/table reserving powers will serve me better if I have an idea of numbers attending...

There seemed to be a reasonable amount of interest in this thread and I believe there's a couple of MeCha peeps coming along as well. IIRC there was about 10 of us last time.

I'll escape work at about 5:30, which should get me to TCR for just after six, all being well.

Ninjas, like Indians, have reservations.

You mean, like, they don't want to be the first to try out new things?

Afraid I won't be able to make it until about 8ish. Still, looking forward to seeing you all then.

I'm afraid, as the bard once said, I've bolloxed my calendar.
I shan't be there in person, but I'll try to be there in the universal spirit of sarcasm.
I've blunderingly re-arranged my weekend in London for the 15th-17th though, if any of ye locals think you're still going to be thirsty.

I phoned to ask about reserving a table. No dice. Barman said the upstairs lounge opens at six, and the closer to that time we arrive, the better our chances, so I will try to get there around 6:30.

Oooh good idea Optamystic. Is anyone bringing cards and pens? I'll try and grab some, but could well forget...

Are they a millionare because they're financially prudent? If so, you could find yourself in your local kebab shop sitting at the sole, fag-burnt plastic table at the front by the window. And then you'll wish you'd done the sensible thing and come to the Bricklayers :)

I had dinner with a millionaire this week, but I'm still going to the MeFi meet on Friday.
Put that on a t-shirt.

In theory, I could get there quite early. However, my pint nursing skills are lax and I don't want to run the risk of being drunk before anyone else gets there...
What time are most people arriving?
