Is it kosher to solicit Ask MeFi for feedback on my blog design?
yes, it's in bad form. but you didn't need to remove your link in your post to post here in metatalk.

Usually it's a better idea to have a few specific questions in mind that you want answered, rather than "Hey what do you guys think of this?" but yes, people have done this before with variants on "Hey why do people keep saying my logo looks familiar?" or "Why can't I get these boxes lined up right?" or "How can I make this web page so that the BUY ME buttons are where I want?" Generally just asking for open-ended feedback on something would be better put on Projects, but if there are things where the collective experience of AskMe would be more useful than just asking a few of your friends, and you have specific questions, ask away.

Not all MeFites are Rabbis. Don't take advise from just anyone.

I don't think it'd be a problem if you linked to a hosted screenshot of the design.

There are some nice web-design-related forums out there where you are welcome to ask for reviews of your design. If you care to know about one, feel free to e-mail me and I'll link you. (I don't own it, I just visit it on occasion.) E-mail's in the profile.

I like those kinds of questions, because I'm always interested in blog design - though I understand how it could be abused. If you don't end up posting it as a more specific question, you can email me for one set of eyes (or if you'd like to post it at metachat, email me once you've registered so I can expedite the sign-up).

Wouldn't this be better suited to Metachat, #bunnies, or #tapes? Both of those have a lot of opinionated people (including professional web designers) who aren't going to be afraid to say "your design fucking blows" if that's the case.
You're not going to get that level of candor on AskMe, and you'll simultaneously be shoving other, more definitely-within-the-scope-of-AskMe questions further down/off the front page.
It's an alternative, at any rate.

it's impossible to get good constructive criticism here on metafilter. we only do abuse well. if you're looking for the former, go elsewhere.

This is a good example of a question that asks some specific design questions.
