Can you let us change our passwords? July 2, 2006 9:04 PM Subscribe
Can we please have the ability to change our passwords built into the site? It's an overdue feature, no?
When you ask someone to change your password for you & they do so but don't tell you what the new password is.

yeah, I'll throw it on the maintenance pile.
I'm having much more fun working from the innovation pile though.

Thanks Matt. Innovations are great but a little touch ups here & there go a long way towards improving the site too.

the maintenance pile/the innovation pile: I am stealing this idea. I'm not doing the dishes in the sink (maintenance pile), because I would rather draw mustaches on the people in the latest issue of Vanity Fair (innovation pile).
Thanks Matt!

evariste, that's kind of lame. Read riffola's comment, and see how one can articulate what you're saying without being an asshole.

brundlefly-I wasn't criticizing Matt, honest. I was just trying (apparently unsuccessfully) to make a funny. And I really do like the maintenance pile/innovation pile distinction, because right now I just have an uncategorized "todo list" for my each of my projects. So I started off saying "I am stealing this idea" because I do think it's brilliant, and then I tried to make a joke.

And I'm certainly not criticizing Matt's idea of an innovation pile, such as this music.metafilter.com site, I think it's brilliant. So you see, it was more of self deprecation, as in "I took Matt's good idea to bizarre and inapplicable extremes".
I'll stop explaining myself now, sheesh. I just don't want to come off as the asshole I seem to have. It was a joke.

Didn't you get the meme? The innovation is the new maintenence! There is only one pile! Who needs useless features like changing your password when you have rocking hardcore (acoustic antifolk) features like MeFi Music?

I've set up a Metafilter change-password form; just fill out the textarea at the bottom of this page and hit the "Post Comment" button, and you will be notified of the change.

I made up the word "torrezed" for giggles, there's no etymology to it. I doubt it'll catch on either since there's no real reason for the word to exist. Like brundlefly above asked, it's not something that happens once in a blue moon let alone often to need a word for it.
No hidden sites or cults behind it, really.
