Always refreshes to the first view of the day January 27, 2005 3:13 PM Subscribe
Everytime I view a MeFi/MeTa/AskMe page, it brings me to the first time I viewed the page that day. I can reload the page and see new posts and/or comments, but if I leave that page everytime I go back it displays the first load of the page, not even the most recently viewed version. [MI]
Weird. Sounds like a caching bug with your browsers.

(This should be the default answer for any "Why is my IE doing something fucked-up on mefi?" question, just as "Have you tried rebooting?" is the default answer for "Why is my Windows PC fucked-up?".

crash - I have tried rebooting, deleting cookies, changing browser settings, etc etc. I only bothered to post this to MeTa because I had exhausted the obvious answers and I only have this problem on MeFi.
monju - Don't worry, that's part of why I was asking. I'm considering making the switch at home for a variety of reasons, and if this problem doesn't carry over to firefox, that's probably the kick in the pants that I need to finally make the switch. Unfortunately, I don't have that option at work. I work for municipal governemnt, and some low-level grunt like me isn't going to get the entire organization to switch.
Do other IE users have this problem?

I (randomly) have the same issue with Safari on my mac.
My powerbook is at home, so I can't give you a specific test case.
If I remember correctly it works like this: View main page,
view comments, go somewhere else for awhile, view and refresh main page,
view comments again, hit back button to go back to the main page
and the display is now the original loading of the main page the first
time I loaded that day.
(sorry for the line breaks, posting with lynx)
