straight-marriage askme cite in salon.com June 26, 2013 10:53 PM Subscribe
Askme got a little shout-out in salon.com today, as part of an article about straight people who don't want to get married until gay people can too.
Here is the askme referenced; here is "How to Be a Straight Ally in Post-DOMA America." We are almost as famous as Kristen Bell!* ;)
*Or we are proof of the old joke: How does a journalist count? "One, two, trend!"
I referenced that AskMe thread as well in a discussion about this very issue with my partner last night last night, though somehow this huge Veronica Mars fan did not realize Kristen Bell had taken the stand she did.
I think this means by the transitive property this means we can get into a polygamous marriage with Bell and Shepard with a news website as the officiant.
(These are the slippery slopes you were warned about.)

Like, who doesn't want this? They are so awesome. I want to be married to them. And yeah, they were really serious about not wanting to be married until their gay friends could. They rock.

Pretty nuts, too, that the AskMe thread concludes with the original poster going all 'oh well I'm having coffee later with Kristen & Dax so we'll just chat about it NBD'.

Oh, great--reduced to anecdata.
I wonder if they'd have referenced the askme if I'd been clearer that the question wasn't really "should I declare an end to my righteous but heretofore invisible boycott of marriage?" but more "how should we feel about marriage now?"
Anyway, good, thoughtful answers in the thread.
Coffee with Kristen was nice, btw. Dax couldn't make it.
