Is the Summly link supposed to really go somewhere other than a Vimeo link? [Summly really was sold to Yahoo, FYI]
[And Summly is an app made by a 17-year-old Brit, IYDAN]

The file originally had about ten minutes of silence at the end, I just cut that off and re-upped a new version, which everyone should be getting. If you got the original one, there's no secret track or anything, just silence.

On the up side, my MeFi project made mathowie remember his first baby steps.
On the down side, he recalled it as "torture".

Thanks for the shout out! I should point out that my track was co-written by the late Major Dundee (now thankfully reincarnated) who supplied this chorus that inspired the whole thing. I thought about inviting a massed choir of MeFites to have a go at it, we-are-the-world style, but haven't gotten my arse into gear as yet.

I'm also confused about the Summly link?
It's some announcement that they made that has Stephen Fry in it and started a discursive discussion about Fry which I think is why Matt included it.

The term you are looking for with regards to the numbers on the airplane is either "tail number" or "registration number" or (in the US) "N-number", since all US-registered aircraft begin with the letter N. There's a lot of information you can find online, such as this lookup service on the FAA's website.
I thought I remembered seeing accident history on the FAA's site when you looked up a tail number, but I'm either incorrect about that or they removed that functionality.

I always love the podcasts. They make me feel like I'm eavesdropping on old friends sitting around riffing off each other and just being themselves in the best and funnest way.
I kind of feel like the swear jar is getting in the way of this. Did you get requests to cut down on "bad" words? I feel like it is cramping your style and introducing a note of not-quite-yourself-ness into the proceedings that is becoming somewhat annoying and unnaturely immature.

We could do a sponsored swearathon...
Or we could have a pool for guessing the number of swears in the next podcast. A podcast profanity pool, if you will. Although I do like the idea of Cortex going around with a signup sheet to get sponsored for fifty swears.

I guess I never listened to the podcast until I knew I was going to be in one, but that was kind of a mistake because they're quite good. I'm a subscriber now!
FYI, the Lesser Antilles are usually Sombrero through the Grenadines. Trinidad and Tobago are geologically and biologically part of South America. The Bahamas are generally considered to be in the Atlantic, not the Caribbean, and Turks and Caicos are really part of the Bahamas, just not politically. The Virgin Islands are really part of Puerto Rico, more or less, except St. Croix. I'm not sure what's up with St. Croix.

And yay for the return of 1-800-PLOVERS, last seen in episode 74 (even though it is apparently actually a loon)! I also enjoy this alternative interpretation of the number, and interested individuals may note that there are also career opportunities available in the Karner Blue and Indiana Bat sectors.
