Nascent projects November 10, 2011 11:09 AM Subscribe
I'm in the very early stages of developing a web app. Its not close to being ready for MeFi projects, imo, but I'd love to get some MeFite feedback on what I have so far! What is the proper channel for something like this?
We don't really have a straightforward one. It's not projects. You might want to try one of the spin off sites that are a little more informal like MeFight Club or Sportsfilter or Metachat if any of them are up the alley of what your thing is about.
If there's something specific you're looking for, or a question you're trying to answer, it's totally okay to put it in AskMe but make very sure your question is a real question and not just "check out my thing!" We try to be pretty forgiving with people who we know [i.e. longtime users] who put links in their AskMe questions but our general policy is "no links unless it's necessary" but you could ask a question about the thing [one you want a real answer to] and include a link to the in-process thing in your profile and people will check it out.

Shame we don't have a sub site for this. Anyways, as a fellow web developer I wouldn't mind giving some feedback on this. Just mefi mail me, including any specific testing you would like to have done.

Post it on your blog/Twitter/G+/whatever and hope that MeFites who follow you check it out.

Google+ is probably really good for this sort of thing. I think at last count there are something like 150-200 people identifying as mefites. Check here for more information on who is one there.
Most of the time it feels a lot like Metafilter lite, only with inline cat pictures.

I just posted to the #metafilter hashtag on Diaspora. Guess we could meet up that way.

OK makes sense. Thank you admins for clarifying and thanks everyone who has volunteered to take a look at my little project! I'll be in touch soon.

We don't really have any on-site channel for "hey I'm starting to work on a thing" as a general case.
