Arguing the validity of BART shutting down its comm bridge? Fine. Implying I'm a thug and calling me a combative fuckwad because I supposedly support police violence? Come on!

Mod contact was probably the better way to go here, there is no debate that is not the kind of comment the mods would approve of. It's the middle of the night on the weekend and it's going to take some time to get to it. Every reply you make to it makes it less likely they delete it.

Yeah, "fuckwad" was unnecessary there. I have to say, though, that taking the opportunity provided by Lexica's allusion to Newspeak to intentionally Godwin the thread sort of invited - if not requested - an escalation in rancor.

Also, saying that protestors need "a paddlin'" kinda makes it look like you're implying support of some degree of police violence on your own without anyone else's help.

Some one called you a name and you answered in thread then made a meta? Seems to me you're wanting to preserve this conflict, not diffuse it. Like a spider in amber or an insult stuck in a fuckwad. You're only going to widen the audience and gain few sympathizers. These posts seldom go the way the poster imagines.

Exactly! When I chuckled at the Simpsons episode from which "a paddlin'" came, it was because I implicitly support police violence. About time someone recognized my crypto-paddlo-fascism.

People calling each other names basically never improves a situation. At this point the obnoxiousness of the "fuckwad" remark has been sort of dwarfed by the quoting and metatalking of the whole thing, so I'm not sure there's much left to do besides saying "please don't call each other fuckwads" and asking people to cool it a bit all around. Did that in the original thread, doing that here, not sure this really needs to be a metatalk discussion beyond that so I'm gonna go ahead and close this up.
