But what if I want a threeway? March 8, 2011 9:38 PM   Subscribe

Pony Request: the ability to send MeMail to more than one person simultaneously.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see that there's any way of sending the same single MeMail to two people at the same time. And I wanted to talk to two people simultaneously about something.

I acknowledge that there's probably concerns about spam, but might not a cap on the number of people you can cc on a MeMail take care of that?

(Of course, if this already exists, then I am a loon. Huzzah.)

I bet this gets the "MeMail is not a full-fledged email system, and is not intended to replace normal email" boilerplate response.

Yeah, we purposely kept it simple to keep it simple and prevent spam. So just copy/paste to the second person.

Subject: FW: Metafilter and AOL merger

I'm forwarding a forwarded message...read on, it it works you may get $$ from Metafilter. Certainly Mathowie has enough to share-maybe today we'll be blessed financially!

I am forwarding this because the person who sent it to me is a good friend and does not send me junk. Metafilter and AOL are now the largest Internet company and in an effort make sure that Internet explorer remains the most widely used program, Metafilter and AOL are running an me-mail beta test. When you forward this me-mail to friends, Metafilter can and will track it (if you are a Metafilter Windows user) for a two week time period. For every person that you forward this me-mail to, Metafilter will pay you $5.00, for every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Metafilter will pay you $3.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $1.00. Within two weeks, Metafilter will contact you for your address and then send you a check. I thought this was a scam myself, but two weeks after receiving this me-mail and forwarding it on, Metafilter contacted me for my me-mail and within days, I received a check for $800.00.

So, I never believed these messages, but I noticed something for the first time.

In order to get the money, one has to forward the message. Then, it takes two weeks for the money to come through. But by that time, your recipients have already had the email for two weeks. The email where you wrote that you already had the money. Which GAH! Brain.

This is exactly the sort of robust-feature situation where I'd heartily recommend moving over to actual email, especially if it's going to be an ongoing conversation of any kind. Makes things like links, attachments, and strings of replies a lot more manageable as well, which is probably important for a collaborative project.

EmpressCallipygos probably tried MeMail 'cause I didn't have my email listed in profile (somebody was annoyingly emailing me). My email is back on the profile, but that shouldn't stop anyone from creatively mocking EmpressCallipygos.

Hey, Doc. I'm wondering if you can help me, I've got this burning itch, you know... down there. About a week ago I took the suggestion of a forum that I frequent, and they suggested that I try something new and sexually adventurous in a way that I'm typically not, but I figured what the hell.

So I went to that place over on 6th street, you know, the one called The Prism and I met this nice colored girl... no, I know, it seems like the wrong thing to say, but it's the term they prefer, I guess Visible-Spectrum-Americans seems too unwieldy. Anyhow we went back to my place, had a bit of fun, and when I woke up the next day the itch had started.

Oh, really? Focused light? You don't say. I didn't know you could even get sunburn that way. Hmm, well, Ok, so some SPF 30 for protection next time?

Will do, Doc. Thanks.
