Making-of video posted for "I Gotta Feeling" lipdub November 22, 2009 11:32 AM Subscribe
Remember the I Gotta Feeling lipdub done by students at the Université du Québec à Montréal? They've posted a making-of video.
You get to see the blocking and other prep, much of the first take, and also a third-party view following the film crew during the final shoot -- and then the crowd of participants as they funnel into the studio to meet the camera for the final shot. You get a good look at the (consumer grade?) steadicam used. Almost as much fun as the original.

Joyous.

Couldn't they have picked a song that didn't suck? Cool video though.

And once one school does it, other follow suit. Here's one from my school, including through my library starting at 3:12. At least they picked better music!

I watched the video when it showed up on here as a link, and it wasn't until about halfway through that the achievement and the fun they were having managed to override the disgust and nausea caused by the song they chose. I'm not sure I can think of another band at the moment I would rather cast into a sound-proofed, concrete walled cube at the bottom of the deepest ocean. Preferably with just enough air that they could start to regret their actions before expiring.

Well, it's not my favorite song either.
This is the only (comparable*) group lipdub of a Lady Gaga song I could find: Beautiful Dirty Rich. From Singapore. Check out the coed in the hijab.
* In the that's just wrong category, little kids (sorta) lipdubbing Poker Face.

Oh lord that made me laugh. I love how little kids will totally sing and flail around to the most inappropriate songs. Reminds me of when I worked at a daycamp and all the eight year olds were obsessed with the Spice Girls. Mind you the Spice Girls seem sort of tame now.
robocop is bleeding: your students are awesome for choosing a Queen song!

The steadycam appears to be the $14 kind.

My hat's off to you, that's farther than I could make it.

You see, Québec lip dubs like this, and the ROC lip dubs like this. Note the collectivist approach in lip dubs from LBP, versus the wan individualism demonstrated in UC.
(The first link goes to a lip dub done by staff at my old neighbourhood hospital to this original tune, which completely kicks Bobby Gimby's ass.)

Oh, come on now. Wilfred Laurier as a representation of the rest of Canada? That's hardly fair ;P

I love Queen, but that was exceeding uncomfortable to watch.

This is awesome, I didn't see it the first time around. That video has made me realise I wouldn't understand the French spoken in Québec at all!
