Will this man's beard lift a real live human being?
They thought he was crazy... maybe he is. Tonight media icon and fashion leader eamondaly will retire as the holder of the world's strongest beard when he attempts to heft a fifty pound boy through pure follicular might.

I call dibs on the first patch of hairy skin to hit the floor. (I need to re-upholster my mouse-pad.)

whefreeegmess: you are weird, but you're welcome to it. I do not foresee a bridesmaids-on-the-bouquet pile-on for the patch o' the Beard. Although, come to think of it, I might have an unused reliquary in storage.

I would be remiss if I didn't point out that the event is being thrown by GapersBlock.com, helmed by MetaFilter's Own Andrew Huff.
Thanks for thinking of me ardgedee, and thanks to everyone who donated! Over $5,300 raised!

You might want to stealthily jab the kid in the thigh with a tranq dart, so he doesn't spazz out mid-lift and impart dynamic loads on The Beard.

This is but one reason I haven't shaved since 2003.

I'm sure that boy will bounce back from this.

This sort of behavior, of course, makes the rest of us bearded men look bad. Mrs Enormous turned to me when this went front page and asked "so what are you doing for humanity with your beard?" And I had no answer (other than trying to terrify small children, but they seem to like me anyway, so that's a non-starter).

Success!
Thanks to everyone who made it out last night. We managed to completely drain two kegs and make a significant dent in the third -- which should stand as testament to the power of the beard. (As well as the power of free beer.)

It was super super dark at Emmit's, but someone was able to capture the lift on video:

Eamon, you are an amazing and thoughtful man, thinking of that boy's safety above your own and providing him a helmet. I am in awe.

So much fun! I was there, but it was too crowded to see anything so I'm appreciative of the video.
I blame me3dia and his free beer for my raging headache Saturday.
