Metafilter Projects (Re)post Ettiquete...
I posted my web game to Projects a little over a year ago, and have since then renamed it (which I doubt matters much) and added to / expanded it a whole bunch. This represents a whole lot of time on my part. I'm considering posting it again, and my inclination is 99% "don't be ridiculous of course it's OK." However my lifelong trait of timidity has prompted me to first post this thread to seek opinions about whether such a move would be acceptable, frowned on, laughed at, or whatever. Thoughts?

The difference is not apparent in 60 seconds of clicking, IMO.
Except that there's ads.

If that's going to be the response of others, I'd tend to say "don't" but only you can be the judge.

I was confused by the first sentence in jessamyn's comment because it makes sense and is totally plausible, yet at the same time I have never imagined that a sentence structured around "you can assume people are smart" could turn out to have both those properties. Upon reflection, I realized the key to the apparent paradox is a rather nonstandard usage of the word "smart" to refer to people who need things spelled out very very carefully for them so they don't go off half-cocked.

My negative/defensive knee-jerk reaction to this comment belies the fact that it is very hard to be objective or detached about my own work. The very broad idea has not changed, but I know timewise I was about 15% done at that time.

I'll just post my next project when I'm 15% done with it, and mention the first one again in passing at that time! :D

You can also consider my preferred mode of operation, which is to get projects just polished enough to be worth launching and then totally abandon them thereafter. It's very liberating.

Okay, it turns out I looked at Bokononist's project more recently than I had thought; it's got some significant changes, and some new gameplay modes. Ooops!
Still, though. If you weren't interested a year ago you still won't be.
