Dallas Meetup August 4th July 26, 2007 8:00 AM Subscribe
Dallas meetup. Saturday, August 4th. tog is coming down and she's bringing her Wii! Anyone that didn't get blown up in yesterday's asplosion is welcome to join in the revelry. (more inside)
Sounds good to me. I'm pretty sure I'll can be there. I have to check with the wife later to make sure she hasn't already booked me for something else. But if there is a way, it sounds like fun to me. One question though: is it alright if booze is involved?

dios, you better show up this time since you stood me up last time and then didn't come to the city last week to go see the Chelsea show.
I am beginning to think you don't worship me anymore, and that makes bunnies cry.
And, ufez, I hope your Wii playing is better than your Trivial Pursuit abilities, because I will whoop up on you again if that's the case.
Also, I would like to request that people bring some alcoholic beverages to drink, if that is okay with you?

I would love to come, to celebrate my triumphant return to a Dallas mailing address (moved from the Mid-Cities, so no great feat, but less hassle than before). I will bring my husband who does not post but was once recognized in person by #1 for reasons nobody understands, and I will convince the one other poster I know (Alex, I'm talking to you) to come too.
My calling card is cheap, plentiful boxed wine. And I could bring Resident Evil 4/Wii, if y'all are so inclined, but I play some wicked Wii Tennis if it comes down to that. We love big dogs, too. I'll even bring some food.

Crap. I posted that and then immediately realized we're supposed to go to another party that night. Keep us informed; we'll see if we can figure something out.

To answer a couple of questions
- Yes, booze is encouraged, but BYO. We'll have a few beers and some wine and stuff about the house, but you'll have to bring your own Crown and Coke, dios.
- Dr. Zira (and Lyn, if this helps at all) I think we'll open the house for people to start trickling in around 6. I'll shoot for dinner to be ready around 7:30, which more than likely means it'll be 8 (just being frank). Feel free to pop on by after that, though. I'm sure we'll up late.
- Sorry to miss you by a couple of days, grandsham, but with some new faces popping up, maybe we can have meetups more often in Dallas.

Also, by the by, Lyn, is this the Alex you're referring to? If so, I chatted with him a few times back in the heyday of the dfwblogs.com happy hours when we both were living at The Village. I've not seen him (or any of the other dfwbloggers) in years, but he's definitely more than welcome if you want to shoot him an e-mail.

Just throwing this out there.... but I could be a definite for the 11th (the following Saturday). My wife is going to NYC that morning for 4 days, so I could make it that night. (And I could even bring the puppy).
I don't know if the date is flexible. But the 11th is a blood-oath guarantee for me. The 4th is not so great, but I will still try to make it.

I'm afraid the 11th is no good, dios. Tog's got a wedding to attend that weekend.

I'm more or less just a lurker on MeFi, but I'd love to drop by. Assuming the location in your profile is accurate, I'm only a few miles away. I believe I'm free on either of the mentioned Saturdays.
A Dallas meetup I can actually attend! Woohoo!

Indeed, Bugg, the location is eerily accurate. I'll e-mail directions and a map with the actual address sometime next week to get a final headcount from those that express interest in this thread.

Late answering: yes, it's that Alex. I was one of the dfwbloggers, too, and so was my husband. Actually, pretty much all of my local friends are from there; I'll remember you when I finally get around to a housewarming party and you'll probably see a number of faces from back then.
I'm still planning on trying to pop by for a bit.

Good deal, item and Lyn. Keep an eye on your e-mail (assuming you have one listed -- if not shoot me one at the addy in profile). Sounds like quite possibly one of the better Dallas MeFi meetups yet.
sorry for the late response. I had one hell of an awkward weekend.

Alright - e-mails with GMaps to the house have been sent to everyone that expressed interest here via the addy's listed in your profiles. If you didn't get it or have further questions, feel free to shoot me an e-mail in the address listed in my profile.

I'll e-mail directions to the house to any interested parties. Fair disclosure - I do have a 45-lb beastie. She's not aggressive at all, but can get a little hyper and jump on strangers. If she starts acting up too badly, I'll put her up, but she'd enjoy hanging out with the MeFites.
Anyone down? Thoughts? Suggestions? Fears?
