Shakespeare in the Park (Boston Meetup) July 14, 2007 11:59 AM Subscribe
Anybody want to go to Shakespeare in the Park's performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common?
I propose any of these times: Friday, July 27 @ 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, July 28 @ 3:00 p.m.; Saturday, July 28 @ 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, July 29 @ 7:00 p.m. Approximate running time for each performance is 2 1/2 hours. We'd probably want to meet early to find each other, and get good seats.
Unfortunately I'm uncultured swine, but if enough other people are going, I'd be down.

Anybody who has gone before have any suggestions on how far ahead you need to arrive for good seats? Is an hour okay?

Gah! This would totally be my thing, but I'm in NY this summer. Same time next year? :(

I vote for the evening of July 26, since I'm in Boston for an Internet doctoral seminar which is doing an outing to it that night. :)

I'd suggest an evening show - Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 would be my preferences. I've been almost every year since I moved to Boston, and it's a great experience, even if you dont enjoy Shakespeare.
If we're going to be a big group, I would suggest showing up at least an hour early for a weekend show.
Would anyone be interested in doing a potluck picnic? Nothing fancy - bread/cheese, olives, chips and dip, that sort of thing...

I might come if it's on Sunday the 29th, but I won't know for sure until that day, because I'll be out of town for the weekend, and I'm not sure what time we'll be coming back. If I do make it, I like the idea of a simple potluck.

An hour is probably good for ok seats -- not great, but not out on the sidewalk. Any of the times is fine for me, and I'd bring food.

So it sounds like evenings are better for most.
I would prefer Saturday night - how about we meet at 6:30 someplace close-by (people actually from Boston, can you suggest a place?) so we can find a spot to sit around 6:45 - 7 ish.

Or, preview is a good idea... nonane, is an hour and a half better? Meet at 6, leave 1/2 hr for stragglers, and then find seats at 6:30? (I am assuming that finding each other in the crowd itself would be problematic.)
