This has probably been covered previously but I couldn't find it. Can I post to Projects for a friend? It's a good project that I think MeFites would appreciate. It's non-profit and others might like to check out similar things in their communities.
If anyone thinks it's cool enough, it's listed as my website. Gracias!

Huh. It seems like a cool org, but not quite FPP appropriate. Maybe you can buy your friend a metafilter account as a gift?

That's a pretty cool site. snsranch, email me their contact address and I'll send them a free account so they can post it.

I don't get it, it used to be that you could post your friends things to mefi, I thought. Now we have projects, where you can post your own things, but you're not supposed to post things your friends? Why have that hole?

Also I don't see any link to this "cool org" in this thread... Am I missing something?

The only solution is to get rid of your friends.

Maybe reusehawaii.org could be part of a larger FPP about deconstruction and materials reuse. There's a lot of info out there. I'd do it, but I'm slightly connected to the folks in the first link.
The ReUse People (formerly The ReUse People of California)
Building Materials Reuse Association
Deconstruction Institute
Habitat for Humanity ReStores
Video interview with the manager of an unrelated Re-Store in Bellingham, Washington
Deconstruction time-lapse video
Seems like it's catching on. Good idea too, since up to 40% of landfill is building materials.

I'm enjoying the Austin, TX This Old House project that is currently going on. They deconstructed and reused almost everything in the place.

I just discovered the awesomeness of scrap house. Too bad it was temporary.

When? Not being snarky; with the exception of the rather wild-and-woolly Mefi: Year One days, I was under the impression that the post-for-a-friend move has always been heavily stink-eyed as being second only to the self-link in most cases.

Yeah, that's always been my impression as well. You can't be objective about your friends.

But you can be objectionable to your friend's nose.

Is there a distinction between this and this situation?

I thought projects was for WEB content you are linked to. A demolition company isn't a web project is it?
You might as well post it to music for all the sense it makes.
