This has probably been covered previously but I couldn't find it. Can I post to Projects for a friend? It's a good project that I think MeFites would appreciate. It's non-profit and others might like to check out similar things in their communities.

Not really, no. If you're not involved in it, then it's not supposed to go in Projects. And yeah if it's your friend it's not supposed to be FPPed by you. However now that you have used the approved end-run around both of these no-nos, someone from MetaTalk will probably post it to MetaFilter for you. In the meantime, you might want to put a link to it in your profile for extra subterfuge.

I don't get it, it used to be that you could post your friends things to mefi, I thought. Now we have projects, where you can post your own things, but you're not supposed to post things your friends? Why have that hole?

Maybe reusehawaii.org could be part of a larger FPP about deconstruction and materials reuse. There's a lot of info out there. I'd do it, but I'm slightly connected to the folks in the first link.

I'm enjoying the Austin, TX This Old House project that is currently going on. They deconstructed and reused almost everything in the place.

When? Not being snarky; with the exception of the rather wild-and-woolly Mefi: Year One days, I was under the impression that the post-for-a-friend move has always been heavily stink-eyed as being second only to the self-link in most cases.

I thought projects was for WEB content you are linked to. A demolition company isn't a web project is it?

You might as well post it to music for all the sense it makes.
