Jessamyn will be in Melbourne on Saturday night. So. Melbourne MeFi meetup on Saturday 10 March. Let's do stuff. More inside.

Jessamyn is staying at the Mayflower on Lonsdale St near Russel St.

How about:

a) Meeting at the corner of Lonsdale and Russel at 7pm and then finding a place and adjusting for numbers.

b) Meeting at a bar in the area, perhaps Eurotrash?

c) izakaya chuji on Lonsdale. Good Japanese with an extensive beer list. We could probably just rock up too.

c) Something else. Feel free to suggest.

Is it kosher to email people about this? It's fairly short notice and there are people who don't check metatalk (like myself).

I just read your email, Pete/sien. While I'd be happy to tag along, I won't be 18 until late April, so I couldn't follow you on any pub trawls.

FWIW, I don't see a problem with emailing the members who live around Melbourne, they'd probably appreciate the heads-up (I did).

Got your email, would definitely attend but happen to be in Johanna (nr 12 apostles) for a wedding that evening. Thankfully the weather will be pleasant, 33 on Saturday.

Hi there, anything firmed up on venues? There's a great all ages (uni student and up) Vietnamese restaurant on Brunswick St that has handled impromtu gathering for me from 5 to 45. Vietrose... I would be interesting to meet a few other mefites.

There isn't anything firm yet on venues. The city might be good as it is easy for transport and Jessamyn is staying there.

We should plan for a proper meetup with a few weeks notice sometime in the future.

I can go but someone may need to actually *phone me* at the hotel to tell me when it's going to be since Internet is so fiendishly expensive. I get there around 2-4 pm tomorrow and anywhere I could walk to from the hotel would be awesome, or I'd need a ride. I'll check at the hotel desk for messages, but may not be able to get easily back online before then.

Sorry guys, but my aunt passed away last night (expected and I guess it is good to see the suffering end?) and I doubt I could be much fun tomorrow night.

I hope you guys still go out and have fun, though. That proper meetup with a few weeks notice sounds like a mighty fine idea.

OK folks. Let's meet in the foyer of the Mayflower (link on this page) at 7. There are oodles of restaurants around the area, so we can just wander into something that sounds good. izakaya chuji is a possibility.

Jessamyn has a photo of her linked from her page. I'm 6'2" brown/grey hair and will have a blue/black macpac pack.

I'm going to mail people who have indicated they are interested.

Hey sounds great -- I finally got on to the net so it's all good. I'll be the hot sweaty gal glaring at the desk people, but otherwise Melbourne has been great.

Thanks for coming out on such short notice. I had a really good time, sorry to have to split so early. I have been properly convinced that Melbourne is a city that deserves much more attention from me at some point in the future.
