Hey honey pie, I lost my biweekly question, can I have yours? February 23, 2007 5:10 AM Subscribe
I have a time-sensitive question buuuut was unfortunately kind enough to let my friend use my account and my sockpuppet for questions in the past week and a half. If someone would be nice enough to post this to the green for me I'll never snark again! [q inside]
I reckon this account and your sockpuppet should be permanently banned, but I'm grumpy that way. Thank fuck I'm not a mod, nicht wahr?

I'm also thinking MetaTalk should not be used for overflow AskMe questions.

yeah, but you should be. i recall an old meta thread where someone floated your name as a potential off-timezone moderator and it seemed like a good idea.
make it so, number one!

I should be banned for having... asked questions? On Ask Metafilter?
C'mon. My car is broken. Have a tiny heart.
yhbc: Metatalk is used for this stuff often enough that it isn't unreasonable and rarely enough that it isn't a problem. Although I'm slightly biased.

It is against the rules to use a sock puppet to get around the time limitations between AskMe, MeFi and MeTa posts. People who do this will risk losing the sock puppet account, getting a time out on their main account and/or having their extra question or post removed. Please do not do this.

It isn't the question-it is your method of trying to solve the posting problem.
This is what private email is for. You ask a metazen PRIVATELY to post it for you. Heck, I would have done it.
This is a bad precedent, and if you think about it for a moment I think you will understand why.

Did you just say you asked two questions in the last week and now you're asking a third in MetaTalk? Did you really just say that?

Not to mention that now if someone is irritated enough they may give you bad advice...

It's also incredibly tacky to use a MeTa thread as another thinly disguised question.

Or apparently that doesn't work. Anyway, you can look up mechanic reviews by zipcode from the cartalk front page.

Right now my car is broken down in the parking lot of a grocery store at just about the corner of 29 and 50 (Super H Mart). Despite how much I love asian produce, I'm going to need to get it towed somewhere and have a decent amount of work done on it. Last time I took it to a shop I pretty much got ripped off, with some things unfixed and other things broken, so I'd like to make sure this doesn't happen again. I live in the Ballston area, but am guessing keeping the towing in Fairfax will keep costs down? Thanks!
