I'm going to give srs the benefit of the doubt and say he probably just misunderstood what makes a good FPP.
If srs makes it over here:
A good FPP isn't just an interesting topic for discussion but a link or links to sites/pages/articles that are interesting, entertaining and/or informative enough on their own to be considered "the best of the web."

I think it stands well alone, and that other people will share useful links in the thread.
A single link to a $40 research paper with nothing more than a 3-line abstract does NOT stand well alone.
