Projects visited link color is unreadable for me July 24, 2006 5:05 PM   Subscribe

Couple of buggies and questions:

Projects visited link color is unreadable for me. Oddly, it's a different unreadable color at work (that picture) vs at home (purple). Something goofy on my end?

A couple of music questions inside, too....

Music questions:
1) Is scrolling that page insanely slow for others? I have a pretty fast machine, but it's really bad. Maybe because of the number of embedded mp3 players? I'm not sure.
2) What're ya using for hard drive space for all of those mp3s? A huge IDE drive, or did you go SCSI? If SCSI - where's a good source for reasonably priced drives these days?

twiggy, the question #2 probably go on AskMe and I get a "no more stealing bandwidth" image when I try to view your link. Scrolling that page works okay for me in Firefox and OSX.

1.) Scrolling works for me, firefox and IE 6.x. Are you using IE Beta, by any chance? I think there were previous reports of terrible slowness with that.

Ditto. Ha! Petard, hoising...

However, I get the unreadable purple visited links at work (IE 6.x) as well. What color are your other unreadable links?

scrolling: I use IE6... yeah, I know, it sucks, but I develop websites and I have to cater to the lowest common denominator, so I'm in the habit of using it.

color: at work they're that dark yellow in the screen shot... at home they're purple..

The music page scrolls just fine for me and I get a different, more readable color combo on the pages and followed links. I am using XP, Firefox, and an unsecured wireless connection from the people who live near this hotel (really).

I get that ugly purple colour (#800080) for the visited links on IE6 too.

But it's the default visited link colour in IE6. For some reason the CSS isn't working right on IE6, it seems.

There's only one actual error if you validate it:

Line: 58 Context : #logo img

Property behavior doesn't exist : url("/scripts/pngbehavior.htc")

But CSS being what it is, and IE being what it is, I guess that could cause some weirdness?

Huh, I thought Projects would have a red background, going by the header in the plain text theme. In fact, you could try switching to plain, twiggy - no contrast problems.

I faintly recall some sort of order-of-link-property-specification gotcha with CSS vs. IE.

the answer from a month ago

*le sigh*
although Matt's been bashing furiously at newer, funkier parts of the site, which is some compensation.

As this has scrolled off the front page I'll try emailing Matt to get the small fix put in.
