Why is this link going through hedonistica? June 23, 2006 4:09 PM Subscribe
Why is this link going through hedonistica? I guess I'm just suspicious when someone makes a first post after quickly making 5 content-less comments...
A lot of people link to youtube framing pages. It actually takes a lot of work to get a youtube URL from an embedded page (you have to either share it with yourself via email, or view the page source, extract the ID and then reconstruct the URL. Not easy).
If someone finds a framed Youtube video, the easiest way to share it is to just link to the page URL, rather then trying to figure out the original youtube URL.

In this case, though, the youtube url is passed right through in the hedonistica url. There was no need to link to that page.

Researching "lilbrudder" is non trivial given the Homestar Runner connection. The lack of profile info is also a bit of a roadblock. Googling yielded no common instances of (whois record admin name) "karl wang" or substrings there of with "lilbrudder", though, which is something.
This may well be an innocent case of the mehs.

Although apperantly you can link directly to the swf if you view source. example(http://www.youtube.com/v/KsDrbnl_WHI). Otherwise you can append the UID (KsDrbnl_WHI) to "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=" (example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsDrbnl_WHI)
Both of those were from the hedonistica page.

Click inside the video to get to the Youtube page, and the sharing URL is on the right.

For quite some time I couldn't play the external youtube videos in my browser. I would either have to pass on the video or just go to youtube and search from a description. Searching almost always worked just fine for me, but descriptionless videos stymied me. Just saying that searching on youtube can quickly find the correct video instead of going through a framing page.

1. Go to hedonistica
2. Right click on video
3. "Copy link location".
Quick, lazy.

Huh, you're right. Maybe I didn't notice that before because I had popups turned off? *shrug*.

That dosn't work. You get the macromedia flash settings menu.

No no no! Do this while at the hedonistica homepage. Or at the permalink for the article.

Right, in this particular case you can get the URL to swf by editing the URL directly, but that does not work in general.

Ah, I see what you mean. I was referring specifically to this instance, and the question of librudder. Apologies for the confusion.

Could be because the poster saw the clip on Hedonistica first, like I did.

Well, it's OldPepsiBlueYouTube. Shouldn't that matter too? It's a lame FPP.

If you open the passed-thru URL directly, you get a full screen Flash player which is kind of neat due to the pretty scaled controls.

Ok...never mind. I've never heard of hedonistica but if its a popular weblog then so be it...

I figured with a name like "hedonistica" it had to be Miguel's site.

I may be proven wrong, and it may be nefarious, but need some more proof.
