what's the policy for/function of an anon question? November 8, 2005 8:25 PM Subscribe
what's the policy for/function of an anon question? i've been using metafilter for awhile, but have never used it. since isaw about seven anon questions in a row, i'm curious: how long do they usually get to take approved? as i understand it, they are hand-screened? so, is it a few days...a week? and, do they count towards your question of the week (they have to, it would be too easily abusable, i guess...just one of the sentences in the explanation seems to mean that).
sorry for the confusion -_- just one of those things i never quite got around to figuring out.

Search for "anonymous" in "Search Metatalk." This question has been answered repeatedly.

what's the [...] function of an anon question?
[Ballfilter] My testicles have swollen up to approximately the size of honeydew melons (and are a similar color) since my yage-induced 6-hour blackout on Saturday night. Not sure what I might have gotten up to. Have you had this problem as well? Should I see a doctor about it? [much more inside]
Oh, no, did I just ask that under my real username? Curses!

Actually, I believe anons are only seen by Matt, and not jessaymn.

Correct. That's why they show up all at once, they're in some queue and Matt often adds a bunch at once. So, mathowie knows who the anonymous questions are written by, and I don't.

As has been said before, if you want to post an anon q you might want to wait a bit before doing so after posting this thread, or you'll be a likely 'suspect' when the next round appears.
(Or, *do* post one now and we'll all have a guess which one of the next bunch is yours.)
I know you didn't mention an intent to post one and maybe you're just curious about the system, but I thought I'd point this out.
