Zwift? April 9, 2025 7:21 AM   Subscribe

I'm new to Zwift and was thinking about how to find people to follow. It occurred to me that there are MeFites on Zwift!

I realize I'm not the only one who uses my real name on Zwift and would prefer not to link that to my MetaFilter username. So I was trying to think of a way around that. Maybe a club?

Have you tried this question in Ask? I say this because there’s not necessarily a big overlap between AskMe and MeTa, ands maybe this won’t get seen by people who ordinarily might be really responsive.

I did not - that’s a great idea. I guess I thought it “belonged” here since it was kind of about MetaFilter? But good thinking and I can try Ask too.

This is an interesting question. I've thought lot about this, previously under the auspices of ham radio users on the site. In that case your identity is specifically and actively your personal full name and address...

I've never come up with a clever way besides a profile icon and then reverting to memail.. I cannot think of a way to connect with other users in a group without self doxxing...

I'm a Zwifter.

I'm 100% unreliable in terms of riding at any specific time, but if I see that you're riding, I'll happily send a Ride On your way! My account name is in your Mefi Mail!

Thank you, Atreides! I replied to your email and sent a follow request. I’m a runner (so slow I should put that in quotes) and manage to make it up to the treadmill a few times a week.

No problem!

I sent you unsolicited advice about a riding challenge in my reply, so ignore it at your leisure!

On bike or treadmill, we'll notch up some miles!
