Just curious - How is this a double post? I know earlier I had flagged a double comment I had made, but when I checked back to see if any new comments had been added the thread was gone.

No clue. Maybe it's considered a dupe of this:

Even if it is a double post, deleting it after 162 comments is a bit harsh.

I'm also curious as to how this is a double post. The thread scarabic mentions is about the possibility of oil drilling in ANWR, and the deleted thread is about The United States Senate actually going ahead and voting for oil drilling in ANWR.

What difference does it make how many comments are in a thread? This post had 61 delicious truff... er, comments in it by the time it was deleted. But it still deserved it.

either way, it's not a double.

I thought that updates to newsfilter posts were meant to be posted in the existing newsfilter post. The first ANWR post was just up two days ago.

1.) Make astroturf post using unattributed text lifted directly from John Kerry mailer

2.) Ignore ensuing MeTa post

3.) Follow up own post less than 24 hrs later with CNN link

breezeway, no disrespect, but enough with the images, please?

I kinda like the images. Especially the one of Dr. J (that is who it is, right?) choking that chicken in a Celtics uniform.

I enjoy images sometimes, but sparingly, and they've got to be good. They do have a way of popping out of the page and interrupting the flow of conversation, so "few" and "small" are words to live by.

The double mailbox was good, and on-topic, and smallish. The man-slap image was a generic "fight-fight!" image, something you could whip out in just about any thread, not that on-topic or funny, and huge. The best thing I could say about it is that its overall contrast is just right to blend into the Grey if you squint at it.

For once I completely agree with scarabic.

Wait, disregard that. Jesus God no.

I'm hoping you're joking.

As for the link, of course it's a double post. Mean Mr. Bucket posted a link on this topic on the 15 (anything for profit), and then this one on the 16. One day later. He could have easily added it to his previous post. (and he needs a blog)

see how irritating and ineffectual that is as a rhetorical device?

I think that actual passage of the bill opens up a different sort of discussion.

Yes, you can talk about what is going to happen instead of 101 different things that might happen. And you get to talk about the statements that come along with the decisive passing of a vote. And you get to see the markets react. And - ah... nevermind.

Which could have occurred in the original thread, posted one day earlier.

Come on, you can try all you want to come up with a technical reason why this isn't a double post, but it's the same person on the same topic one day later. To me that's a double post, and if it's not, it's certainly a broken record.

That (huge?) "man-slap" you refer to is Dr. J and Larry Bird choking the shit out of each other! I'm just saying.

I'm sure you would have preferred watching quonsar and anapestic piss at each other.

Why should I bother explaining myself to my (and, gee, everybody else's, too) critics? It must be early.

For real, I love you guys. Please don't hate my play.

The real test is whether I post this stupid comment. I'm afraid I can't control myself.

Pause. Think. Stop. Don't post, breezeway. It's not worth it.
