Meetup in San Francisco, Jan. 14, 2005 January 9, 2005 10:33 PM Subscribe
MeFiSF Reminder :: Friday, Jan 14, 7 PM, Toronado. This place has everything. 60 million beers on tap, a back room we can stretch out in a bit, loads of nearby food options, and convenience to Muni (Fillmore route and the N train). We see dozens of new additions to MeFi in our nearby zip codes - please come out and say hello!
Assuming that I can navigate public transit from point A to point B without getting lost, I'll make it there.

I can navigate public transit from point A to point B without getting lost, so I'll probably end up dragging DaShiv and epimorph there.

I'd be there but public transit tends to fall off somewhere near Wyoming...
60 million beers?

Ditto for me in Hanoi. We Frisco types do get around. Make sure you get some of those great sausages at the grill next door... or a shawerema at Ali Baba's... or a Chicken Divan at the Squat & Gobble around the corner... or a cheesesteak at the Metro next door to that... or a curry at the Indian Oven on the other side...
*sigh*
On second thought, I'll be there!

I'll be there unless I'm asleep. If I'm not there, just yell really loudly and you'll probably wake me up. I'll be there.
As for why "Frisco" is an abomination, ask Emperor Norton.

So does this mean we're not meeting in Berkeley at the end of the month?

The Berkeley thing is a separate occasion. I brought this up again because we'd talked about doing it before the Berkeley thing was announced, this weekend encompasses a small window for some people, and, well, people still want to.
All are welcome - East Bayans and Peninsulars and Marinites and so on - of course! There is a Santa Cruz contingent going to Berkeley at the end of the month, and they even spawned another local meetup there, too.
Meetups for everyone!
And a big "your awesome presence is demanded" goes out to the Lothario of the Seas.

Yeah, the Frisco thing, as I understand it, is rather like the faggot thing. It's a piece of slander that has been appropriated by those who have been traditionally targeted and who are therefore down and in the know. Either that, of I'm a big, fat jackass. Let's flip a coin.
Hmm... heads.
Take lots of pics!

Not only does Toronado have excellent beers they also have some delicious mead. I wish I could make it across the country for this one. Magnolias is yummy also.

That's the tone I heard, squirrel. However, if you'd said "Friscans" it probably would have chafed even me (and I don't even live there anymore).
I DEMAND SOME FISHFUCKER.

Damn, looks like fun, sounds like fun but an hour and a half drive on Friday night after work just doesn't seem to that much of a draw.
How about a San Jose meetup? Or better, a Santa Cruz meetup? 'Course, our local spot's only got about 15 beers on tap but they make 'em there.
And "frisco" is a bad word, nobody should use it unless it pertains to a slimy security guard.

fenriq, the Santa Cruz Monkeys are having a meetup at 99 Bottles in Santa Cruz on January 27, and I'm sure you'd be welcome. Also there's a joint Mefi-Mofi Meetup in Berkeley on January 29, and I know that a Santa Cruz contingent will be coming up for that, and might even be interested in carpooling. Feel free to email me for details....

Gosh, "Friscans" is worse than "Frisco." But, you know, fenriq, the call goes to those who call the place home. I see your point about the security guard, though. If scarabic can find a local wifi hotspot, he can virtually host me with his laptop and mini-cam. Our FIRST TRANSGLOBAL MEETUP!

Heading over now with a book to occupy me until the crew gets there. For those who haven't met me, I'll be wearing a blue hoodie and glasses, and will probably not stick out much from the crowd. Well, I'll be reading Murakami's Kafka on the Shore, if that helps.
