The NYT has given MeFi partial credit for popularizing Pac-Mondrian. December 28, 2004 9:48 AM Subscribe
Tired of links to the NY Times on Metafilter? Then perhaps you'll enjoy this Gray Lady link to Metafilter here on the gray. They've given MeFi partial credit for popularizing Pac-Mondrian (even though ifjuly's link only got six comments.) [via Slashdot Games.]
That's a great article, though. Much more interesting than our non-conversation about it... I wonder why they put metafilter as a major contributor to the popularization. Wish I could get the actual game to run on my machine!
(also, I didn't know we were .org, too...)

Sounds like lazy reporting, to me.

Could be worse. A misleading MetaFilter post, for example, could have become an even dumber Slashdot story. Oh, wait...

Huh, why do people think my laser post was misleading? I thought the wording made it pretty clear that the first two links were in a separate category from the third. At any rate, I'm flattered to have been plagiarized...

Just the opposite, in fact. The way it was phrased implies the third link was "debunking" the alleged safety of the products featured in the previous two links. As demonstrated later in the thread, it was easy to jump to this conclusion, and easy to demonstrate the difference between the two products.

And it looks like the guy who stole my post also read it that way and "clarified" it.

I think the best MeFi links get the fewest comments.
