Return of MeFiSwap! December 20, 2004 2:59 PM Subscribe
Per the misplaced thread in AskMe, and for all of you wondering about the MeFiSwap... [+]
Real life intervened once again, and I wasn't able to get the last swap session beyond the signup phase. But I do still have everyone's information, and the swap will be returning right after the first of the year.
- If you signed up for the session which never happened and you want to be in the session which will actually be, you don't have to do anything.
- If you didn't sign up for the session which never happened, you will have an opportunity to sign up now. This includes new members who weren't around for the aborted session.
- If you signed up for the aborted session but do not want to take part in the upcoming session, simply e-mail me and I'll pull you out of the database.
When I get a chance I will publish all of the details on the Swap site, including the new swap scheduling and so forth. I'm in the middle of a CMS switch on my site right now, so things are a tad bit messy, otherwise I'd do it as soon as I finish posting this. I will, of course, inform the Swapnews mailing list and will post on the SwapTalk forum (which also needs an upgrade, oy, finding time) when the details are available.
Most importantly: the aspects of the swap which were most time-intensive (the actual creation and publication of the swaplists, especially) have now been fully automated (G-d bless php/mysql) and therefore, there is no reason why the swap will ever be aborted again. Since I can get the information up with, well, a little more than the push of a button, but not too much more, my personal time constraints will no longer be a stumbling block toward Swap administration.
Thank you to everyone for being patient about things, and I hope to see a bunch of you (especially you newbies) jumping in when the doors reopen in a couple of weeks.
(On preview -- I'm worth more than a tchotchke, m_c_d, but if you have a chucheria, negotiations may be possible.)

Kewl. I signed up and wondered what was happening. How can I check if I'm still there?

You are a wonderful person Dreama. Thank you. I've been waiting for months, and now, a Christmas present! Woo!

Bdave, if you signed up and didn't get an error message when you clicked "submit" then you're still there.

Woot! I was taking a break from CD swaps for a while but I'm ready to get back into it. It would be nice, just once, to get a full set of CDs back in return!
