Sidebar request for chicken genome sequencing! December 13, 2004 6:10 PM Subscribe
Should there be a sidebar mention of the insider perspective on the International Chicken Genome Sequencing Consortium provided by grouse?
I guess so, based on past sidebar mentions. I'm not sure what the purpose of those sidebar mentions is, though. To show that real professional people with actual expertise populate MeFi?

I'm so putting that on my resume somewhere. But would it go under professional affiliation or hobby? Maybe I should just have a reference:

It's so we can blame him when some monstrous, genetically modified chickenish thing kills us all. ; >

"when some monstrous, genetically modified chickenish thing kills us all." - This being Metafilter I'm betting it will be a giant cock.

This "chicken genome sequencing" - that's just a eupehmism for jerking off chickens into a bucket, one after the other, right?

You cold-hearted bastards!
My post was so beautiful once. It had everything: cutting edge science, fancy chicken variety packs, women who love their poultry too much, a really awful pun, and commentary from a grouse who works with the International Chicken Genome Sequencing Consortium (NOT to be confused with the International Chicken Polymorphism Map Consortium).
But now?
Now it just all seems dirty and cheepcheepcheep.

There was a big discussion on the chickenanalysis mailing list today about our next project. We're going to figure out exactly what it is that makes stavros so wonderful. Stavros, please bring a blood sample to the next meetup.
My contribution hardly compares to the similar contributions on the sidebar, except for the absurdity value.
