Vegas baby, Vegas! Where the drinks are free, the neon lights shine brightly and the streets are coated in a light dusting of high-quality cocaine (or so I hear)!

MeFiVegas is happening November 7th-10th, plenty of time to arrange booking off some vacation time and sending the kids off to grandma's house.

No churlishness allowed.

Hmmm... on the one hand, it's only four hours away, I really have no excuse not to be there.... on the other hand, four days? Is everyone really staying for four days, or is the primary meetup the night of the 8th or something? What if some of us only show up for a portion of the time? I strongly suspect I can gamble away all my wages in less than two days - so is there a better two days (like the 7th/8th, or 8th/9th)? Plus, what is son_of_minya shows up and starts demanding people's hands and shit?

P&T have a seven-figure deal with one of the casinos to perform around there a bunch. I suspect they could've been had for much less, since Penn built himself a magic castle in the area, but they probably just wanted to piss off Sigfried and Roy.

Anyway, if Penn & Teller, Blue Man Group, AND the Star Trek Experience combined have never been enough to entice me to set foot in Vegas, do you honestly think I'd go for a MeFi group impression of Hunter S. Thompson?

Just some added info: people have been finding some good deals for that time. Vidiot has located a $245 USD airfare from NYC for those dates, and from London the price is $665 USD. That's just a cursory look on expedia.

For hotel deals I'm trying, but the more people say they're coming, the better off we are. For that time of year without a group rate hotels on the strip are roughly $80 a night averaged out. That should give you enough to budget with!

last time I was there I stayed cheaply at the Algiers, which is one of the original strip hotels (from -66 with nice neon). It's not much more than a decent Motel by todays standards but you'll be paying 40 USD a night, and you're close to everything.
