When I shift click on one of Y2Karl's opuses. The magic blue link info box gets left open and doesn't close when I mouse over another link. Doing the shift-clicking alt-tab shuffle leaves a whole string of them open.
IE6 Win2K.
IE6 Win2K.
stop the maddness.

To clarify, I shift-click to open a link in a new window, then alt-tab back to the original window, ready to open the next one, so that by the time I've finished opening windows, the first one will have actually loaded. Minimises the amount of time I spend twiddling my thumbs waiting for a page to load.
I use tab-browsing in Phoenix at home, but I use IE at work.
Anyway, shift clicking away, doesn't close the blue box thing.
Also blue box related; boxes for links in the sidebar, appear near the left edge of the main area.

Why not go into your user settings ("Customize" in the masthead) and set it so links open in new windows? Saves me the trouble.

Err, because I don't always want to open a new window?
Y'know, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this was the right place to report bugs in Metafilter?

This is a bug with IE6 and the DHTML title boxes that has been known and mentioned before.
But I don't remember Matt giving any solution for the bug, except for opting to turn them off. Which is sad, because they're pretty darn cool.

A more traditional plural of "opus" is "opera". I'm not trying to be pedantic; instead, I actually just think it's pretty cool that one plural of "opus" is "opera".
That said, I'd like to proudly animadvert my new y2karlulator. You may find it useful.
(Self link, of course)

Ahh, OK, seen. Since the alternative is speed reading, and it's not fatal, and I'm just waiting for the next version of Phoenix (assuming they've fixed the bugs in the edit box focussing) anyway, I'll live with it.

You are not logged in, either login or create an account to post comments
(I've got the same config as you, and I need not shift-click, just mouse-over.)
