Matthew Green, Servo5678, owner of pressthebuttons.com, has passed away February 23, 2025 2:09 AM Subscribe
Obituary. He was member Servo5678 here, and also on everything2, which is where I first met him. I mean online, I never met him in person. For more, see inside.
Matthew Green worked in the games press for the website Kombo, when it was around, and also maintained his own game news site, pressthebuttons.com, and podcast with 390 episodes, Power Button. He was on Twitter until recently, and both Mastodon (on mefi.social) and Bluesky. Just a year ago I posted here about a fan-made recreation of a lost media Nintendo game that he broke the news of on his site.
I never met Matt in person, and we could only be regarded as casual acquaintances at best, but it's hurting me very hard right now. Goodbye, Servo5678.

I didn't know him, online or elsewhere, but reading his obit really ... you get such a sense of such a nice guy you'd be happy to be in a room with. And he had and led large communities. What a striking loss for his loved ones, friends and community.

Aw, wow, I remember him from e2 back in the day -- he was always so pleasant and delighted to talk about video games with everyone willing to do so. Cancer is the worst. :(
