Interviewees wanted! February 20, 2025 7:15 PM   Subscribe

The Moderation Oversight Committee is hoping to get properly up and running soon, and a big part of that is going to be a submission process so we can receive and discuss users' issues with moderation practices in an orderly fashion. As of now, we have a draft version of a Google Form that we're pretty happy with as the mechanism for receiving requests, but we'd like your help refining and finalizing that form before we give it the big public roll-out.

We're looking for a small handful of folks ā€“ 4 or 5, possibly more depending on the level of interest and availability ā€“ to participate in short (less than an hour) interviews where they will try out the form and let us know their thoughts. Using that feedback, we'll be able to tweak and iterate towards something that feels as much as possible like a community-focused, community-owned solution to this process.

These interviews will be fairly loose, letting you provide thoughts on each section of the form. Before the interview we'll send you the current draft of the form and give you a chance to try it out, so that you're not coming in totally cold when we talk.

If you're interested, please either MeMail or email me (kybard at gmail) with the subject line "MOC form test interview," and let us know your local time zone and if there are any specific times where you'd be best available for a video chat. We'll reach out from there as soon as we can to get coordinated.

Thanks everyone for your patience on this! If there's any interest after the fact, we'll happily provide the collated results of this testing and how it ends up affecting the process. Either way, we're excited to get users involved in this process even before we're out of the starting gates.

Why does it have to be a video chat? What's wrong with audio?

good question -- no need for cameras, but a screen share is really useful to keep us looking at the same things as we talk.

Oooo! Thanks for putting this out there. I love bite-sized volunteer work!

Iā€™d be happy to test and am comfortable with screen share and video call format.

UPDATE: We've already received a bunch of responses and have a great group of volunteer interviewees! If you've offered, stay tuned for details.

Otherwise, please do continue expressing interest if you have it; we may have folks fall through due to scheduling issues, and also would love to solicit feedback from anyone interested even if we can't fit in a full interview.

I'd also be willing if needed. I've done things like this in the past.
