Bingo!!

Hey! Community member Wobbuffet suggested we play a MetaFilter type version of bingo, so let's view or download the card, then get into the rules

HOW TO PLAY:
Complete 5 spots in a row, by making a post or doing the action in the square. You can work in any direction you like (horizontal, vertical, diagonal). Or expand that to include an X, a T, picture frames, a small blackout, a full blackout, whatever your heart desires! Once you're done, return to this thread, type "Bingo" and let us know which squares you did!

When making a post related to this game, please tag it as 'MefiBingo2024'.

There's a few notes inside about categories.

NOTES:

• Here's the Gift Link to invite someone
• Here's the most recent LinkMe post and here's all of them if you'd like more suggestions.
• Eponysterical means posts and comments which are funny in light of the poster's user name (example: a member named brainwane doing a post about neurology or dreams)
• For reworking old posts, you can browse through the archives to find old posts or just click the random button
• "I, for one, welcome..." is from a Simpson's episode and often jokingly used when there's been a shift of power somewhere

This is a nice idea! I'm sad that there are so many old memes that aren't represented, mostly because they've fallen out of currency. Some we're probably better off without ("hurf durf etc"), but I've always had a fondness for "Administrator, please hope me!" Please Administrator, hope all of us.

so, technical question: if I rework an older post into something that is eponysterical, do I get to check off two boxes at one go? :D

I'm pretty sure 'whatever your heart desires!' means the rules are whatever you make them. Me, I'm trying to figure out how to make a single post that ticks every box.

I don't care if "Free space" is a space you get for free without having to post something, I rolled a 13 today and I'm gonna post about FreeSpace!

As mods have the ability to embed images, I think, would you be able to embed a ~33% sized image of the bingo card under the fold? It's still mostly legible at 1/3 original size which is better than nothing imo. A link can be added to the current location.

Okay, I've added a small version of the bingo card (also linked to the larger version). We don't really have an upload space for images modside, since we don't deal with images at all on the site proper, but I uploaded it to the Best Of blog, which resized it a bit, so it's a little smaller than intended, but should work for a quick reference, and easy to click without searching for the text link, if you want to see it bigger.

Unsurprisingly, I'm still out here working on it, and I've seen a few people using the tag. I've always kept a bookmarks folder for things I'd maybe post later, and for my part, this challenge reinforces the tendency. Like, what should count for what to fill in which row is a question. If I have time, there's also something I'd like to do as a Projects post that's definitely inspired by one of the categories.

And that's a B-I-N-G-O! Without the use of a free space, even -- although shamefully I missed most of the very same squares I'd suggested. Thanks for the inspiration!

Nice work! Combining my own assumption that each player would be their own judge of what counts with supermedusa's rule that posts can count for multiple squares, this post was a 3-in-1, because it worked in a Mefite mutual, their eponym, and some favorite bands. So with this post tangentially related to space and with the gift invitation I sent to one friend, I'm there--barely.

More productively, one thing this challenge caused me to do was spend a chunk of my vacation on stuff related to this previous post. That didn't turn out how I'd expected either, but the minimal concrete outcome is that two books fully in the public domain now have homemade scans online.
