Shoutout to Wenestvedt on His 150,000th Favorite Given February 22, 2022 4:20 PM   Subscribe

My infodumpster skills are not sufficient to find other members, like Wenestvedt, who favorite posts and comments generously, but it makes the place nicer and more fun. Thanks!

I've been watching the number tick upwards, and it happened today. Cheers!

HAHAHA! I love handing out favorites! I wish I could insert a GIF here of Oprah saying, "You get a favorite, and you get a favorite, and you get a favorite!"

An earnest or honest or funny or insightful comment with no favorites strikes me as sad. Everyone loves favorites: "Everyone needs a hug," right? And as a recent thread pointed out, a lot of people find that writing a comment requires some bravery -- which shouldn't go unrecognized.

Thanks for noticing, Theora55. You're awesome yourself. :7)

Awww! Thanks for the little sprinkle of positivity, wenestvedt. Favorites cost us nothing to hand out, and everyone likes getting them.

Will is a stand-up individual who lives an hour away from me yet I have not yet, for some reason, bought him a beer. I need to remedy that once meetups are a thing again.

Awww, bondcliff! I even listen to Phish's "Baker's Dozen" series of endless live shows because you are so passionate about them...and I actually enjoy it!

Holy shit mubba talk about a blast from the past

I can't even get down the gym! Your diary must look odd: 'Get up in the morning, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, favorite, lunch... favorite, favorite, favorite, afternoon tea... favorite, favorite, favorite, quick shower …'

Waaaaait a second, you live closeby enough for bondcliff to buy you a beer? And you give favorites out that would make tehloki sit back in their seat and go OH THAT'S HOW IT WAS DONE?

this is the metafilter I'd hoped for. BONDCLIFFE, BUYETH THE WENESTVEDT A BEER AND TEXTETHEH ME YOUR GPS COORDINATES WHEN YOU DO. [clapping hands, closing eyes tight, spinning around three times] AND AS IT IS WRITTEN SO SHALL IT BE. METALLICA SANG SOMETHING LIKE THAT ONCE EH

Yeah but the next line had something to do with killing the first born Pharaoh son. That's not the sort of meetup we strive for here on meta-filter dot com.

Oh I think this is very nice. I don't favorite many things because it's just not how I use the site, and I use favorites as bookmarks and sometimes I'll read through all the comments I've favorited and laugh and laugh, but I have so much appreciation for those who favorite a lot and also a lot of appreciation for wenestvedt who is all-around a good guy.

On the one hand, this is awesome. Congrats and well done. wenestvedt!

On the other hand, so much for my theory that someone here liked me because they liked so many of my comments... sigh...

Nope, that's the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus, I am from the east coast and thus live in a townhouse.

I've only been back to Sum'v'lle twice since 1992 or so, and I'm not current on the local pizza scene. (Back then, I was eating entire large pizzas at one sitting, from the campus pizza counter. They were vile, but I was hunnnngry.)

Do I want to ask what Somerville-style pizza is?

And bondcliff, that was funny. (Wait, Ball or Teale?)

infodump.sqlite can be re-opened in sqlite3 to have other SQL queries run against it without needing to repeat the lengthy import steps. If you need more tables inside infodump.sqlite, keep infodump-all.zip around and use .mode tabs and .import commands similar to the ones used above for importing the favorites and users tables. Note that the infodump text files have column headers on the second line while .import expects them on the first, which is why the unzips need to get piped through tail -n+2 during import. Note also that the favouritesdata.txt component of infodump-all.zip is many times the size of any of the others, so .import should pull in any of the other tables much faster than that one.
