Hi All, I see he hasn't been active here since 2017(?) but since he was a member for so long, I wanted to share what I just saw on reddit. python mailing list announcement from Guido "A former core dev who works at Google just passed the news that Fredrik Lundh (also known as Effbot) has died."

Well, I learned that Vanilla Ice has been convicted of "UNLAW POSS OF WILDLIFE", which, I guess, fills my "learning new stuff on the internet" quota for today. Time to log out.

Very sad news. I didn't know him, but have used his Python libraries many times over the years. I remember when I connected the dots that MetaFilter's effbot was one and the same as the proprietor of effbot.org, which I landed on often enough while looking for Python documentation that I remember it well 20 years later.

I hadn't realized he also wrote the re module.

A link to his posts. I never knew him, but I've probably benefited from his open source work in more ways than I know.

It looks like he disabled his profile (?)
Is there a protocol for whether to link this obit thread to his profile in that case?
