Newsletter 3: The Handovering November 14, 2021 11:29 AM Subscribe
Newsletter 3 is, after some delay, in your inboxes! (subscribe here!) You can visit it on the web at the archive link here.
Due to some staff life obligations, I am temporarily the boss of the newsletter, which has involved a LOT of "getting EM up to speed on entirely new systems" but THE SPEED, I HAS IT NOW, and I'm already starting on issue 4!
(You will notice there are no pictures this time; in the interests of not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good, I punted on those.)

I hate to suggest more work for the mods, but it occurred to me that it might be fun to read a short little interview with a MeFite in every issue. I find everyone on here fascinating, and would love to know more about MeFites.

This is just to say that I received it and enjoyed it!
Another suggestion: maybe each newsletter could feature an illustration that was drawn or photographed by a MeFite.

Yeah, we're going to try to settle into a steady workflow and see if it makes more sense weekly, monthly, or every other week or what. And once that is going smoothly, we can start adding elaborations and getting more complicated. :)
I'm also thinking about asking for volunteers to do some "limited run" columns -- like maybe for 6 newsletters in a row, we'll have someone go through the wiki and find fascinating stuff. "Let's feature user art every issue!" feels like it could become something that holds up the newsletter process, especially at times when mods get busy. But "Let's have a user prepare six issues of user art features!" is super-doable. Anyway, if you have ideas for something like that, feel free to hit me up! We'll probably start with text things for now (I still have to learn how to do pictures), and of course it's a format for brevity.
Also be sure to favorite comments or posts that you think would be good to feature in the newsletter! We have a little dashboard where we can see what's being favorited, and we run through that looking for things to highlight that we might have missed.
