Fanfare Images? December 6, 2018 5:13 AM Subscribe
A fair amount of the time, when I post something a little lower profile on FF, it does not properly load the poster. This is particularly true in the case of films. Is there a way we could verify the poster image (and/or upload one if one doesn't autoload) while making the post?
This sounds great! Could we also suggest alternative images, if the options don't pan out?

You likely have several options in mind already, but if you haven't seen them, Fanart.tv and themoviedb.com both work pretty seamlessly with the Kodi/Plex type of application, which leads me to believe they have APIs you might be able to plug into...

I don't use FanFare so maybe this suggestion doesn't make sense for one reason or another, but would it be OK if in those cases where no suitable poster was suggested, the prospective OP used the contact form to suggest one? Would the mods be amenable to fixing the issue on a case-by-case basis, or would that be unworkable?

Hi AOANLA,T that’s how it’s working current for me, but it’s happening much more frequently so looking into it is a good idea.

Related, could we change the "alt" text for missing poster images to the title of the movie/series/etc.? Currently it just says "poster" if the image is missing. (This would also benefit accessibility, for people who can't see any of the images.)

It would be great if we could add the name of the movie or show either way, as many of the posters are so clever that the title isn't visible or is hard to read.

That said, being able to preview/select the poster is a good idea and I'll see if I can drag in what we have in the admin interface, which lets you select a poster from a collection of possible ones.
