RIP kmennie

I am sad to share that longtime member kmennie passed away on December 26th, 2017.

Her family announced this on her Facebook page, which has been memorialized. She was a smart, opinionated lady and a devoted mother; I'm sad we won't have her around for the years to come.

Oh, that's sad. She'd been trying to make the local meetups but she's a bit out of town, so I never actually got to meet her.

How sad for her daughter, who I know she loved with all her heart. I knew she had some serious chronic health issues, I'm sorry they took her too soon.

From reading her Facebook memorial, it is good to learn that kmennie was as sharp and witty and compassionate in real life as she was in our little world. I hope her family knows that she touched many people's lives even if we have never met her.

I gasped too. She and I messaged back and forth a bit when we were both having a rough time. She was, as someone said above, a good egg. I'm very sorry to hear of her passing, sad for her family and especially her young daughter.

Kia became my friend when we went to university together and, like so many have pointed out, she was kind, brilliant and witty in equal measures. She was a delight.

Your respect and fond wishes would have meant a lot to her. I know she loved the metafilter community.

She constantly provided such wise and often witty replies to askmefi questions - come September I'm going to host a cupcake bar while silently toasting much missed absent MeFites.

I online-met Kia when she was a big cheese at Epinions.com. Somehow we began emailing each other, I don't remember how, and that account is gone. Now I am remembering the little images of her life that filtered through email to me back then. She was sharp and interesting. By the time she showed up here, I thought she finally had everything worked out. But death.

She commented so wisely on many of the human relations threads and it was clear she was a bright light who cared a lot about others. I always appreciated her posts and I'm so stunned and sad to read that she's gone. May she rest in peace.
