MetaFeatured Snippets May 3, 2017 12:04 PM Subscribe
A little while ago Google introduced “featured snippets” that get listed at the top of a list of search results. (Their perils have already been discussed on the front page.)
Surprisingly, if you search for “cheevos” you’ll get a featured snippet clipped from a blog post by one of mefi’s own. I’m curious if anyone has seen other MetaFilter, AskMe or MetaFilter-adjacent content show up in a featured snippet.

(I will note that I only discovered this because I mentioned “cheevos” in a meeting and wondered if anyone knew what I was talking about.)

There is beanplating, of course. And fortunately it is a completely inane snippet.

Huh, I guess it is different for everyone, because hurt died doesn't give me a snippet at all. :(

What's the rest of that phrase, literaryhero? "Hurt died, bitter elder"?

Searching for "schmoopy" or "schmoopiness" brings up a featured snippet from the website for the show A Way with Words -- specifically this post about schmoopiness by MeFi's Own™ Mo Nickels.
(Also, Searching for Schmoopy sounds like a book/movie title)

Belatedly: I was sabotaged by autocorrect. That should be "Hurf durf".
