GraphFi + user tags chrome extension March 28, 2017 2:34 PM Subscribe
Hi friends,
Remember when yourcelf made GraphFi and it was great? Well, it still is great, only now it is also available as a chrome extension that I threw together.
I've also added another thing that I've always wanted to make threads easier to follow - user tagging!
Yay! Enjoy it (or hate it), and let me know what you think!
Previous safari extension by nicwolff.
Is there documentation? I've installed it, but I can't tell if it's working.

jjwiseman: what theme are you using? When I first installed it, there was no visible effect (modern theme, dark mode), but after I switched to classic it worked.

Starting to regret putting a garish blue TEST TAG next to my username... the "Edit tag" link doesn't appear to let me change or delete it.

(Neither does removing and reinstalling the extension...)

I just want to say that GraphFi has made me able to follow along the political megathreads and also still have a life, and I'm very very thankful for it.

Apologies for that, Jpfed - introduced a new bug tracking down another one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If you update it it should work as expected now, and play a bit nicer with other themes. thanks!

What happens if you use this in a politics thread?

I tried the new version and it still didn't work. I looked at the source code and saw that it only works for https://*.metafilter.com, which means that it won't work unless you have "Use secure browsing?" checked in your preferences. But once I did that, it worked!

Going to Maine: there are hundreds and hundreds of one-liner comments that amount to "RARGH", using graphFi I quickly scroll to comments with the most favorites, where the juicy content is.

I've noticed a bug! When you scroll down on a page and the top menu bar collapses, usually there's a little head icon there you can click to navigate to recent activity, memail, preferences, etc. But once you visit a thread and the graphfi box shows up (automatically), it disappears. Clicking the x on the graphfi sidebar disappears that navigation icon from the top menu bar completely, and doesn't show back up again until you visit a non-thread page.
