I don't know how to use FanFare or Where are all the Gilmore Girls??

Um, I have never used FanFare so i don't know if I'm just not looking right or if there really isn't a group WAITING IMPATIENTLY FOR GILMORE GIRLS YEAR IN THE LIFE!!!! or if it just doesn't work like that at all. I can only find old discussions about specific episodes.

Can someone point me to the relevant post(s) or group? Or do I just start a thread or something? My 15yo daughter and I can't wait. And I can't believe this but IRL I have no friends who are fans. I will need people to squeal with apart from my daughter.

Am posting here in case there are others who want to talk about Year in the Life and/or don't know how FanFare works.

So, the way it works it, someone will post the episode on FanFare after it airs (which I assume means someone will jump the gun as early as possible on Friday morning but that's okay). I've gone ahead and pre-submitted the show and I'll approve it in just a second, so that it will be available to post on Friday whenever you guys start Netflixing.

It depends a bit on the imdb data, but I'm almost positive it'll show up as four distinct episodes so people can make a post for each episode as they watch.

If you want to make a fanfare talk post to PRE-PLAN watching (and/or just get hype), that'd be cool, just head on over to fanfare and make a talk post! Generally FanFare is for discussing after you watch, not liveblogging while you watch. Chat could certainly accommodate a live group-watch thought if you wanted to all be squealing in the chat room while you watch!

Here is the show page, you can add it to "my fanfare" now if you want. But the episodes will show up on Friday on FanFare when someone posts each one, and it is pre-approved now so you guys will be all set to go on Friday!

(Me too, obviously, but I may have to wait until Saturday to watch because it's like my family didn't even plan their Thanksgiving around me wanting to watch 6 hours of television in complete silence!)

I don't see why in this case since there are a fair number of Mifi folks in the industry that one must have worked that show and can pre-post a bunch of spoilers, like everyone in the Stars Hollow are actually robots with post-apocalyptic zombies raging outside the city limits. Or something like that? Hmm. Nudge nudge? Just this once.

This raises a question that I have had:

Do I need to put any info into a FanFare post or can I just set one up for the movie or tv show episode that I want? I want to discuss so many things but don't want to write spoiler-free stuff just for the post.

If you go peruse the front page of FanFare, people use either literal TV-guide summaries or deliberately go Mad-Men-preview-esque: "Bernard struggles with a mandate; Maeve attempts to change her script; Teddy is disturbed by dark memories." (Westworld); "Finn and Jake meet Doctor Gross." (Adventure Time); "Host: Kristen Wiig, Musical Guest: The xx" (SNL)

You can write your own summary or totes just use the TV guide-type summary from somewhere else.

Why would you want to do that? Do you mean just leaving the front page blurb blank or the 'more inside' part empty too? A blank post isn't likely to spark much discussion.

It's fanfare. The show or the movie itself is what's sparking the discussion. Putting what I want to talk about into the initial description seems like I'd be limiting the discussion to just whatever aspects of a show's episode or movie that I want to discuss.

I think those summaries are more about identfying the episode that's being talked about, not directing the following conversation.

Yeah, to be clear: leaving it literally blank is an unnecessarily stark break from the form, so don't do that. But you can keep it minimal: identify the episode/film in a utilitarian and spoiler-free way. Doesn't have to be an editorial or creative writing project.

Yeah, the description is so people who don't necessarily know what episode number/title they are looking for can read it and think "oh, yeah, it's that one, where the guy does the thing!".

Suggestions anybody can take or leave for this particular season if they aren't feeling creative:

"The Gilmore Girls have a winter."
"The Gilmore Girls have a spring."
"The Gilmore Girls have a summer."
"The Gilmore Girls have a fall." (or an autumn, it's up to you)

I ended up getting sucked into a cable broadcast of a Gilmore Girls marathon Friday night, and let me just tell you I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT NEW GILMORE GIRLS.

Hi, I did like four posts in a row for Black Mirror in Fanfare for similar "omigod I wanna talk about this but there's not a post yet" reasons. There's a form for each episode you need to complete (i.e., episode title, season number, episode number, etc.) and then for the body of the post I think I literally copied and pasted the one-sentence description of each episode from somewhere, or if I couldn't find one, I wrote like a one-sentence "here's what the TV Guide would say" description and that was it.

Just curious - why isn't Gilmore Girls visible in the 'Recently Added TV Shows' sidebar of the Fanfare page? It goes right from 'Search Party' to '3%'.

I noticed back at the beginning of the fall network when I'd submitted a bunch of shows to the queue at once that when I posted the first episode the graphic showed up in between two other graphics that had had their first episode posted earlier in the week, so now I try to only submit a couple of days before the premiere so the graphic gets a chance to be visible before other new shows scroll it off the sidebar. Does something need to be tweaked by frimble to make the it so the most recently added show is visible in the first position rather than in order of when each was in the queue? (Or did I just glitch it out by posting the first 3% episode at the same time as ThePinkSuperhero was posting the Gilmore Girls threads?)

For the record, because I'm sure no one cares, the reason I didn't post them starting at 4:30 this morning was that the first one (and then the rest) didn't really feel like an episode. Like they knew that people will binge these, so there aren't really internal plot arcs to each "season".

Anyone have a list of episodes to show someone to give them a good feel for the show/make someone want to watch it? Zarq once did this for DS9 and it was perfect, and made it intriguing enough for someone to both easily get into it and make them want to go back and fill the gaps they missed.
