A ten year update... and an SF meet-up. August 13, 2016 12:40 PM Subscribe
Nearly 10 years ago, I commented on the green about having fallen head-over-heels for a woman only once, back in college - but how, after 13 years of wondering if I'd ever have that feeling again, we ended up moving in together, had just gotten married, and all was right in the world.
weapons-grade pandemonium issued a challenge just three minutes later:
Update us in ten years, eschatfische.
And so we will! gucky and I are pleased to invite Bay Area MeFites to our 10 year anniversary party, featuring a 35mm matinee of When Harry Met Sally, September 10th at 1pm at the Roxie. RSVP information inside.
Spoiler: we're doing great.
The Roxie's at:
3117 16th St. (16th at Valencia)
San Francisco, CA 94103
There's no charge for the screening, and we'll have light snacks, but seating will be limited. If you're interested in coming, please just send us an RSVP.
Hope to see you there!

So happy for you guys! I seem to be pretty much jinxed in going to meetups lately, but allow me to raise a glass from
2,271.6 miles away, and know that I have nothing but warm feelings for you.

Excellent! Great job, both of you!
Also, I guess if gucky is putting on When Harry Met Sally, I should probably respect it more? And maybe it's weirder than I remember!

ignignokt: It's kind of embarrassing that two people so into weirdo film have WHEN HARRY MET SALLY as their movie (as it is super mainstream), but if it makes you feel any better, the first film we watched together was John Waters' DESPERATE LIVING. Which 1) isn't appropriate for an anniversary celebration and 2) doesn't have the hilariously friend bucket story of me lending him a VHS copy of WHEN HARRY MET SALLY in response to him asking me out back in 1993.
Other options based on stuff we watched when we met:
- BOXING HELENA (because he had the poster in his dorm room wall)
- BARTON FINK (because we spent many hours discussing wallpaper peeling as symbology)
- This Firesign Theater sketch with the song "Rat in a Box" (YouTube link) that I posted about on Usenet the week we met
Given the choices, I think HARRY MET SALLY is the only thing people might want to see with brunch.

You are not logged in, either login or create an account to post comments
Also, if it makes sense to do so, you could totally make a formal meetup announcment on IRL.
