Last night,
I dreamed that I was playing football and mathowie was the quarterback, we had mismatched uniforms and we weren't doing very well. Then my friend Jason from high school (who did play football) came into help, but to no avail. Then I woke up having to pee.
This isn't my first MeFi dream and I can't be the only one. Let's hear about some of yours.

Oh god, I just woke up from a dream that involved, in one of its many action sequences, me and cortex trapped in a falling elevator.

I have Mefi dreams a lot; unfortunately, they are usually anxiety dreams. However, I did dream once that I went to Matt's house with a couple of other people (not clear who they were) about some sort of business thing (not like "business" business, but not just friends coming over – it seemed to be about some kind of tech gadget trial thing, and I wasn't working for Matt), and it turned out it was his daughter's birthday that day, and he invited us to join in the party. There were many happy kids running around, and happy dogs, in a big green back yard with treats and games, but it wasn't overdone or an "adult's idea" of a kid party, and I remember that I thought how cool that was.
I promise this was a true dream, and not sucking up. If I were sucking up, I'd tell you about that one where cortex was playing banjo at the party, and it totally RULED.

one time i dreamed that vladimir putin was actually a comically evil robot controlled by cortex and he was embarrassed that his joke had gone so far and had been taken so seriously by the rest of the world and he was unable to figure out how to end it.

I don't remember any specifics, but I've had multiple dreams where things happen in the context of me reading a mefi thread. One is where I'm scrolling through a thread, and people are explaining some concept that doesn't make any normal everyday sense - just as a random example, it might be something like how each person's body actually contains two people's minds, or something - and I'm reading through the explanations and they make perfect sense, and I'm at some eureka moment where this changes EVERYTHING. Then I wake up and the dream logic fades away and I forget everything.
Another one (seemingly recurring) is where I'm reading a thread and everyone is talking about me, and they out all the details of my life and I feel violated, and soon the entire internet is talking about me and being very invasive, and I'm horrified and frantically trying to remove whatever I can and mitigate the damage. (This has nothing to do with MeFi, I think, and everything to do with my neuroses.)

Not sure if this counts, but once I had a dream where I was being pursued by a reptilian monster called "The Griphus". It took me a while to figure out where my subconscious had picked that name up from.

I dreamed I was writing a very exciting front page post, but accidentally published while it was still an incomplete and error-ridden draft and somehow I had also attached part of a very personal email.
Everyone made fun of it in a very long thread.

I dream about MeFi a lot too. In one dream jessamyn grabbed a handful of cooked spaghetti and slapped me with it because I was an asshole. Later on in the dream we went for a bike ride with other MeFites on adult sized tricycles that had rectangles instead of handlebars, and jessamyn had trouble because her hands were slimy from the spaghetti noodles so I felt really bad.
When MeFites I care about disappear from the site I tend to dream about 'em. When NoraReed left for awhile, I had several dreams that revolved around sending her rabbits - in orange, Loretta Lynn type dresses - that were always dead upon arrival. The dreams finally stopped when one of the bunnies arrived alive. That was super fucking weird.
Usually after (and during) really awful, contentious threads there's a few dreams around them, mostly involving just scrolling screens of white with comments that are unreadable yet somehow I know what they mean and every comment is terrible.
Once I found a fossilized The Whelk. Only it wasn't The Whelk himself but actual text - The Whelk - in sandstone with the text having been replaced by quartz mineralization.
I had a dream that involved making a MeFi comment so hilarious that I woke myself up laughing and had to write it down. In the morning I found my "hilarious" comment was: "Leek in the streets, SCALLION IN THE SHEETS". . . . yeah.

I had a dream about a year after I joined the site that languagehat invited me for tea. His wife was there too. It was most pleasant and I've felt grateful to him ever since.

Yes, this happens to me too! However, instead of writing it down, I try, in my sleepy state, to explain to Bulgaroktonos and it's tough because I can't talk for laughing so hard and he never think it's as funny as I know it to be because he is the WORST.

I had a dream that I went to a meetup in some distant (but still American) city, and ended up making out with a fellow mefite.
The dream makeout session was nice, but it was a little disconcerting upon waking up. I felt like my subconscious was telling me that it was time for a break.

I dreamed I was at a huge party and I didn't know anyone. I asked, "Who are all these people?" and someone replied, "Don't be so humble, Nudibranch, we are all your Metaspouses!" Best party ever.

A mild sampler: jessamyn (whom I've never met) giving me directions in Vermont (where I've never traveled); Capt. Renault (whom I've never met) giving me grief in a restaurant in Niagara Falls (where I've never traveled); bilabial (whom I've never met) giving me socks from her online store (but if such a store exists, I've never visited it).

Once when I was going through a really stressful time I had a dream in which Jessamyn was my big sister and gave me lots of great advice. It was actually a pretty helpful dream conversation. I've always wanted a big sister, and Jessamyn seems like she'd be a great one. Even dream Jessamyn was pretty fantastic.

So many interesting MeFites have deserted the site that I hope all of you dreamers will not limit your presence because you have obviously been over-exposed. I have a friend, a singer, who thinks and dreams of music all the time. I don't know if that is better or worse than MeFi dreams, but it beats dreaming of crossword puzzles.

Last night, I dreamed of a new feature, which was essentially a way to view the most active posts on MeFi at any given time, according to the number of favorites and recent comments. It looked a bit like the Recent Activity feature, and a bit like the Popular feature, but with the most active posts arranged in side-by-side boxes on the page, and the comment/favorite stats listed under each post title/brief description. In the dream, I felt a little confused because I hadn't realized the feature existed - I had written a post that was displayed on the 'most active' page, and I felt like I was learning more about how to write effective FPPs.
I wish I had written the dream post down right after I woke up, because it has faded from my mostly-awake memory. It may have had something to do with the Homeless Survival Guide [MeFi Wiki] and some background research I'd like to do for the page introduction, because I was working on the page and thinking about it before falling asleep last night.

I dreamed that I was signing up for MetaFilter on Christmas Eve in the quiet evening of my wife's parents' house right after my oldest daughter was born, and then eight years flew by and she can now beat me at tetris sometimes and I still feel like I just got here.

I dreamed that the web didn't exist but teleportation did. Instead of setting up web servers, you set up a teleportation hub and people would be able to jump there. Metafilter was like this awesome bar and a jumping off point where you went first to hang out or jump to other cool places. Inside the mods were all bartenders and/or bouncers. This was a few years ago and I don't really remember all the details but it seemed like a pretty cool concept to build a story around. Alas, a writer I am not.

In high school, after an anomalous number of people told me that I showed up in their dreams in a transitory way, I formulated a theory that all humans are connected at a subconscious level and the only time we have access to those connections is when we are dreaming and I was finding my own dreamscape boring and was going exploring in other people's dreams instead.
I have had several dreams featuring MetaFilter people, including one where I was with CUJoe and ran into jessamyn and caught my medicalert bracelet in her hair.
When I woke up, my pillow was gone.

I've actually had several MeFi dreams; I think it's all the weird usernames kicking around my brain. A couple years ago, I dreamt I was at a gathering, and zizzle was there with her new baby. Note: I have absolutely never, ever met zizzle. So we're chatting on the couch, when Baby Zizzle gets up and does perfect cartwheels across the carpet and I yell, "WHOA! Look at that BABY ZIZZLE ROLL!"

Probably because I've been reading this thread, but I dreamt last night that I was at a party at mathowie's house. By the time I got there he said all the cool people had moved on somewhere else. His house was nice but surprisingly like my Auntie Breda's in layout and decor. I brought him a tiny but intricately decorated cupcake as a present but when I gave it to him it was all smooshed. He laughed his podcast laugh and asked me "what do you call this in your country?" (it's a "bun", fyi). I stayed and chatted to some of you but I didn't get any names. My sister and brother-in-law were with me and they wanted to stay til 2am but I wanted to go home early so at 10.30 I told them we were leaving. Before we left I got Matt to sign my divorce papers.
(The only time I'll be invited to a party at Matt's and I am just as socially awkward as in real life. Ah well.)

We were the last interviewees in the news story. The writer had tried interviewing via Counter-Strike first, but he hadn't gotten any clear or helpful answers from the people he'd found there.
There was a MetaFilter group picture, too, but since I don't have a good idea of what most of you look like, my brain decided to go with the likenesses of the people from LoadingReadyRun.

I was just reading the long MeTa thread about the deletion, and falling asleep, and I started to believe the comments were two people discussing how to price eggs. "Do you sell them in half-dozen containers because you can bring in a little more cash per egg?" -- that sort of thing. I suppose this is like the reverse of the question, being on MetaFilter and dreaming you're not.
