Podcast Posts: Now Open Forever February 10, 2015 12:08 PM Subscribe
Our recent discussion of thread closing got us thinking: why do Podcast threads close on the same schedule as other MetaTalk threads? We changed that today. Podcast threads in MetaTalk are now open to comments forever. Here's a handy list of those threads.
Or do some transcribing. 👂💻📝🎉

Can't decide which is better:
1) Transcribing podcasts using emoji.
2) Transcribing emojis during podcasts threads.

I tried my had at transcribing, but had no idea who I was listening to. Sure, I could tell jessamyn, but had no idea if the guy she was talking to was cortex or matt. Maybe if I listened to more of the podcasts it would be apparent.

The way to tell them apart: "surweet!" = mathowie; "draygon" = cortex.

Mathowie's more California English than cortex- listen for the HRTs and a higher "like" frequency.
(They also introduce themselves at the beginning, so, there's that.)

Yeah, I just hit the thing that gave me a segment. I didn't start at the beginning.

Matt's the one with the mic too close to his mouth whose breathing drowns out everything else.

Also Matt's panned a bit right and I'm panned a bit left.
Also WOO FOREVER PODCAST THREADS. I realize we may not see a whole lot of straggling traffic there, but it's come up now and then from mefites who get caught up after the fact that it'd be nice to be able to comment once they've actually listened.

Electric word "podcast", it means forever and that's a mighty long time.

Everyone please imagine I've appended a "does anyone read the posts down here?"comment to all the newly opened threads.
Now that's out of my system and you saved me some time to be ridiculous elsewhere.
Thanks.

Awesome. February 2015 shall be known henceforth as the Month Of Ponies. "Pony Month" is acceptable if space is tight.

Yes! I'm almost always running a few episodes behind on listening to podcasts, so I never get a chance to comment in the threads.

Handy guide for new transcribers:
- mathowie: air of confidence, somewhat adenoidal, sounds tall, frequent Valley-girl inflections
- cortex: canonicalcheerfulnerdwithultrafastdeliverywholaughslikeMuttley
- jessamyn: higher-pitched voice, finds answers on the Internet before the others have finished asking the question, adorable laugh attracts chickens

I just went back to confirm the Muttley laugh, and it's there, but it's totes Mathowie, not Cortex.

I always play the podcasts backwards. For the hidden messages. Something about some sort of cabal.

Are we going to reopen 9622? Is that the next plan? Because that would be awesome.
