In my latest column, this comment helped me to write the introduction to a piece I was stuck on while I was on deadline, a few days after it had been made by elgilito. Thank you elgilito for your research, and your French, and thanks Metafilter for being part of my media diet. You are an odd and useful tool in my writing, and an unlooked-for blessing.

Cool, and also, thanks! I totally missed your post when it went up. I'd read some of Alain Robbe-Grillet's books and seen two of his movies, but I knew nothing at all about Catherine Robbe-Grillet.

So, because you wanted to thank elgilito, I learned some stuff today.

Mistress: I thought the article was good. You manage to say "for the love of god, don't use 50 shades of grey as a blueprint for *ANYTHING*" while pointing people towards better resources and not making fun of them for reading those books.

I think a lot of other attempts at writing that same article could come down harshly on folks for their literary tastes without pointing them towards better resources.
