FanFare Miniature Pony May 25, 2014 12:36 AM Subscribe
Could we have a "My Shows" view on the FanFare front page? I probably only want to keep up with at most 4 or 5 of the whole list there....as we add more shows, that list is just going to grow and grow. Thoughts?
I want to feed this pony apples and ride it on the beach.

I want this pony to grow up to be a full-sized horse.
Because until about five years ago, that's what I thought ponies were: juvenile horses.

I think this is something we will be looking at once things settle down. It was mentioned briefly here, for example (see the following several comments).

So while we're on the topic of small funfair fanfare ponies, can we have the post date on the show summary pages? (example with posts from May 6 and May 13, shown as 16:05 and 11:28 in my timezone)
(The tag pages show date only, which is more useful than time only, but showing both would work too...)

Right now all of our gears have been shifted toward helping fund MetaFilter. But yes, this is something we've talked about doing soon at FanFare.
Good catch, effbot. I added the post date to show pages.

When will FanFare data be added to the infodump? I realize the answer is probably "when things settle down", but I'm pretty excited to download that pile of sql again and start making pictures of the site's changes.

I like this idea, with the caveat that it might hinder discovery of weird and delightful things like Danger 5.

While we are waiting for roll-your-owns, you can kinda make your own feeds.
Anyone who wants to maintain their own list can use the excellent "Yahoo Pipes" and the RSS reader of their choice. I, for instance, have an RSS feed for "Arrow" and "Orphan Black".

Piggybacking on this request:
In the 'My Favorites' page, threads from FanFare don't have comment counts. Here is a screenshot of what I mean.
It's not super important, but it does look weird and asymmetrical.

Heh, I just realized, I seem to have a thing for asking for comment counts.

Putting my $0.02 in for this pony when the mod team has bandwidth for feature requests.

I agree...I don't think the blog-style front page model of the other sub sites actually works for FanFare, and this would go some way towards fixing it.

If I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me up on my pony on my boat

I have heard the ponies singing, each to each.
I do not think that they will sing to me.

If this had been reddit, someone would have made a TIL post about this already and collected muchkarma points favourites and mind blowns.
(fun fact that I just learned: it used to mean young horse, but the meaning changed, I guess when people back in the 17th century realized that those small horses weren't actually just small horses that refused to grow up: Google says "probably from French poulenet ‘small foal’, diminutive of poulain, from late Latin pullanus, from Latin pullus ‘young animal’.")

Almost, at times, the Foal
