18 months ago, I asked this question:
I just wanted to say thank you to those who answered.
I still haven't found out all of my answers, but through some of the suggestions in your answers, I completed the very long task of finding out what ship my aunt sailed on from New Zealand to the USA, and the name and address of her husband.
Unfortunately, she selfishly married someone with the surname Smith, but slowly but surely I feel that I am making progress on finding out what happened to my Great Aunt, and maybe making contact with my cousins.
The help on here inspired me and genuinely helped, so thank you again.

Unfortunately, she selfishly married someone with the surname Smith - ha!

I wondered whether you would ever get anywhere, having done a little research myself that sounded just as quixotic. :7) Glad you are sticking with it!

Should this follow-up get added to the original question as one of those newly-enabled long-term final comments? People who commented in the original thread would be more likely to see it there than in Meta.

Congrats!
Don't forget to also check the Social Security Death Index; if you can find either of them there, that would give you their death date and wherever the death was reported. Hopefully the husband had at least an unusual *first* name; any chance you have your cousins' first names? Good luck!

I have actually recently been thinking about doing some family research (some scandals [though not murders as far as I know] in our past mean that what I've been told is...sketchy to say the least, and distorted by misremembered things). That thread will be useful to me too, so thanks. And good luck, pandini.
