A milestone for the robots among us: Brendon Blatcher's recent Unique sculptures of Pierre Matter was post 0x20000 = 2^17.
I've run the numbers through a computer and decided that we should all start the droning repetitive chants now if we want to make it through this with our spines attached.

What are our options if we either do not care to make it through or do not care about our spines?

And the one before that has the number of the 6th Mersenne prime, 131071 [217-1], and is about the detention at Heathrow of Glenn Greenwalds' partner.
Rather appropriate for a thread involving prime-dependent encryption.

Googling 2^17 gives Bible verses. 0x20000 gives random software error messages. The post number (131072) equals 2^17, okay but....
Mind explaining the joke for those of us who aren't mathematicians or programmers??

Bender: "He, bro-bot, what's your serial number?"
Flexo: "3370318."
Bender: "No way! Mine's 2716057!"
[hearty laughs]
Fry: "Heh-heh... I don't get it."
Bender: "We're both expressible as the sum of two cubes!"

Nope.
Just in a lot of fucking pain today and a lot closer to genuinely suicidal than usual. Besides, I actually no longer read dead tree books because paper is evil.

That 131072=2^17 is the whole story. There's no joke, just a reference to the shared experience of learning the powers of 2 while studying how computers work. It's a thing programmers do, I guess to signal our identity as programmers, or to build group cohesion by reminding each other about the shared experience (not to say esoteric knowledge), or something.
The sum of two cubes thing is a reference to a famous story about Ramanujan.
I'm not sure who Blender Bratchon is.

I know, right? That explains everything!
